ThePRESENTMEMTS of the Grind Jurors for the Province of Gco%
•ia, at a Court of General Seflions of the Peace, Oyer and Tei miner,
Afli'zo and General Goal Delivery, begun and holden at Savannah, on
Tuesday the 14th Day of June, 1768, before the Honourable Wilii arn
Simpson, Esquire, Chief Justice, and James Dcvcaux, Esquire, Af.
fillant Judge.
WE the Grand Jurors for our Sovereign Lord the King, for the bo
dy of the laid province, do upun our oaths present:
I. Asa grievance, the want of common schools in many parties of
this province, and of an cilabliftud fchool in rhe town of Savannah.
2. We present as a very great grievance, That many negroes in tha
town of Savannah are allowed to live so much at large, and from under
the immediate government and infpcclion of their matters or owners, or
any other whito person, by which means a door is opened to robberies
and other bad prailices. By information of Henry Preilon, Esq.
3. We piefent as a great grievance, That the service of jurors in this
province is very unequal, for want, wc fuppofc, of proper retur *, of per.
fens from each par.fh properly qualified to serve as grand and petit jurou,
w hich we humbly conceive, may be calily remedied by references to tha
tax lift* and lifts of eleft rs of representatives in each pariih.
4. We piefent as a very great grievance, That at our publick eleftions
for reprefentative* in this province, aims hive been carried, and other
threatening and insulting methods made use of, to deter eleftors from
giving their vofes freely, especially in the pariih of St. Andrew.
5. W present as a grievance, by information of Andrew Greiner, F.fq.
ths collegers of St. Paul’s pariih, for not making proper returns and pay.

Adjournment Day of June Sesons, 1768, viz. 29th June, the following
ORDERS were made on the foregoing Preferments.
1. /ARderiu, That a copy of this preferment be laid before his Ex
cellcncy the Governor, the Honourable Council, and Com
mons House of Aflembly.
2. Osotiua, That Henry Preston do give information to anv of the
the tow nos Savannah, ol the fubjedl matter of this present
ment, in order that the negroes guilty of the offences therein mentioned
be dealt with agreeable to the direction of the Alb of Aflembly in that case
made and provided.
3. Whereas fimular preferments to this were made at Tune fellions,
1766, and December fellions, 1767, copies of which, with an order of
Court thereon, were served upon the fevcral magillrates, in their respec
tive diftritts and parill.es, within this province, requiring them to make
due returns of the persons liable to serve on juries in their ieveral parishes,
agreeable to the direction of the Ad of Alfembly, on or before the ilk
day of the succeeding feflion ; and whereas feverai of the said magillrates
have not paid due obedience to the (aid orders; Ir is thirifore now
Ordix ed, That informations be filed against such of the magistrates as
have offendeJ herein.
4. Ordf.rf.9, That a copy of this presentment be laid before the Ho
nourable Commons House of Aflembly.
3. Ordereu, That a sopy of this pi efentmeot be delivered to the pub
lick- Trtaforjr of this province.

Clerk do furniih the printer with a copy of these preferments, and orders
made thereon, in order that they may be inferred in the publick Gazette,
Crown Oftice, 30th PRESTON and PRYCE, C. C. Sc P.

T O B t SOLD,
A TRACT of LAND, containing FIVE HUNDRED ACRES,
called the Pine-Island Tract, joining Great-Ogcchce marsh, con
fitting of pine barren, rice and corn land, with a very good bluff, as good
a place for flock as any at Little-Ojtechee.
ANOTHER TRACT, containing FIVE HUNDRED ACRES, in
the pariih cf Chrill-Church, situate on the River Little Ogechee, about
14 miles by land from Savannah, bounded northwardly by lands of the
Non. Francis Harris, very good for corn or indico.
FIVE HUNDRED ACRES on the said river, with a very good bluff,
where a vessel of 200 tons burthen may load at the landing, a quantity of
which good corn, indico, and rice land, and the rest good pine for flaw
ing , bounded southerly by lands of the said Francis Harris, Esq. and
northwardly by the marlhes of Great-Ogechee.
Whoever chufcs to purchase any of the above trails may apply to Mr.
Joseph Clay merchant in Savannah, or to John Willfon planter at Little
! Osechee.

THREE NEGROE FELLOWS, lately brought from Augusta, and
delivered by the InJians to the white people. They fay their names 1
’ are, Harry, Bear, an"d Sampson, the two firfl had their names from the
Indians, and fay they both belong to one matter, but cannot tell his name.
Harry is about five fee fevrn inches high, and twenty-five pears of age ;
Bear is about five feet three inches and forty years old; Sampson
is a stout able fellow, about five feet ten inches high, aged about forty
yc. rs, is very black, has his country marks down each fide of his face,
and a fear on his left Ihouldcr, he freaks a little Englilh, fays he went to
to the Indian nation about seven years ago, but cannot tell his matter’s
