Delivery, began and Holden at Savannah, on Tuesday the nth day [
0 f June last, before the Hon. Noble Jonea, Esq. Senior fuflice, James
Deveanx and Eliffia Butler, Efijn. Alßftant Juft'ces, for the province of
Georgia, tj indifimenti were preferred to the Grand Jury, 16 of which
were found to be true bilis, and 7 thrown out; 4 were tried for capital
offences, 6 for a riot, e for grand larceny, and 4 for being atceflaries af
ter the fad. At the Adjournment Day of the said Seflions, 7 were sen
tenced to be publickly whipt, t ordered to quit the province, or find fEf
ficient freurity, and several vagrants then dilcht'ged out of goal were or
dered to return to the northern provinces where they belong.

WE the Grand Jurora for our Sovereign Lord the King, for the body
of the said province, do upon our oaths present:
1. Caleb Howell fen. Esq. one of his Majefly’s justices of the peace for
the parilh of St. Matthew, for ill behaviour a* a magistrate, particularly
being accedary to the taking and ordeiing Shedrick Harper over the River
Savannah, and there whipping ad oth.rwife barbarously treating him.

a. Asa very great grievance, the inefficiency of the present goal in the
town of Savannah, and the want of a proper one for the reception of
debtors, and the more eflfe&ual securing of criminals.
3. Asa very great grievance, the commissioners of the town of Savan
nah, for their remiffhefs in not keeping clean and in good order the flreets
of the said town, efpeciallv for fuffrring the necessary houses to remain
in the ffenfive condition they now are, notwithtlanding the several pre
sentments heretofore made. We also present them for not keeping in good
order the publick well*.
4. William Ely, for keeping an obnoxious neceffary.houfe, to the great
detriment of John Bowles, by whom this information is made.

6. John johnffon, shopkeeper, for harbouring and concealing a Mu
latto fellow named William Martin from jultice. By information of Jo
frph Parker and Levi Shefialt.
7. Joseph Griflom, one of the constables of the parilh of St. George,
for negieA of duty in his office, in particular for wilfully fuffering p ifo
ners to efcapr out of his custody. By information of Andrew M'Corrie
and Edward Beard.

Auguftinc’s Bridge to the W F tree, for ncgleft of duty.
9 The commissioners of the lower road leading to Augulla, in St.
George’s parilh, for negleft of duty.
10. The commissioners of St. John’s parilh, for neglefl of duty on the
road leading from Sunbury to the line of St. Andrew's parilh.
11. Henry Sharp, James TJucker, Peter Shand, and others, for carry
ing on a trade with Indians iu the fcttlemcnts of this province contrary to
law.

without white people with them.
13. Mark Radcliffe, of the parilh of St. George, for taking up strayed
hcrf*s. Sec. and rot advertising them agreeable to law, ana refilling to
give any account of them when required.
14. Asa grievance, that white people, as well as negroes, are fuffered
\ to r *dc on horfel ack at a gallop through the streets of Savannah, to the
great danger of its inhabitants.
15. The commissioners of the parilh of St. Paul, for neglelt of duty on
the road leading from M‘Bean’s Swamp to Augulla.
16. Asa very great grievance, that little or no notice has hitherto bean
