Letter by Dr. 1.. Vngier. In the Atyut and Spoctaloi’ of tho 19th nit, published at Newport, N. H., we find a letter written by Dr. Angier of tbia city, giving much valuable informa tion ebont tho Stato of Georgia, and especially tho northern portion, in which some of tho inducements to industrious, hard working emigrants aro set forth. He first gives a quietus to tho wicked reports so industriously circulated in tho North that this country is infested with Ka-Klnx Elans. Ho calls attention to the cheap lands in tho country through which the Air line Railway is now being bailt (from fifty oenti to two dollars per aoro) and tho unsurpassed health, fino water, de lightful temperature and grand scenery of all Northern Georgia, and especially points out its many agricultural luid manufacturing resources and tho value of our products, etc., etc. It is an interest ing tetter, which wo would like to pub- U&IOttltUWtluamaco. Whonovor there is a short supply of anyartiole on the market speculation comes in with the hopo of gain and takes a port of tho supply off the market, and by that very net enhances its market value; but when there is known to bo a full supply for all possible wants, not only do speculators keep out, but oven consumers do not anticipate their wants, but buy from band to mouth. It is true that specula tors, who have not appreciated tho con dition of tho markot, have operated in provisions this season, but those who lmvo bought iu anticipation of n riso havo been disappof all wliich they could tako off tho market there was more than enough left to sup ply all demands. Now tho summer fat tened hogs are beginning to come in here and at Chicago, and like those reoeivod during the packing season, they aro unu sually largo and fat, and sell at prieea 25 to 33 per cent, below tho average prico of tho packing. Whilo ice-ourcd moat is not aa merchantable os winter- cured, it nevertheless takes it. place to a certain extent, and therefore affects prices materially, while tho lard Is taken readily by tbo manufacturers of lord oil and refined lard at prices a littlo below tho winter market. That there has boon a material dcolinc under those circumstan ces is not surprising—it was inevitable. There ia ono thing in Which we think oar local packers have made a serious mis take, and that is not selling freely when they havo had the opportunity. A Montana man killed fourteen men at different times, and was happy. He stole a horse, however, and so outrrged tho cultivated society of that section that tho citizens turned ont and hanged him.
