GEORGIA C HOI* MAYS.
[From tho Chronicle ntij Soutine!, Sfc'ht.
A Troup county correspondent says:
I send a few lines iu relation to the
prospects for a crop iu this section of
Georgia, which I can assure you
gloomy indeed. Wo have hud but one
week without rain since March 1st. Du
ring the latter part of May and first of
June, we had rain for cloven day s in suc
cession. It was so wot during the time
that wo got to plow one day onlv, and wo
have hail an abundance every day rince,
and some of the hardest 1 ever saw fall.
The farmers, one and all. are in the grass
badly. {Some farmers have turned out
portions of their crop, others will have
to do the same, without some fair weath
er soon, and the prospect for rain today
is very good. The stand of cotton as a
general thing is very sorry, the weed
quite small. A square is of' rare occur
rence, except in patches about the house.
With tho most favorable weather from
now on, I do not think this section can
make over two-thirds of a crop—if that
much. Com on uplaud is looking very
well, though it is lute. The com on
bottom land is almost an oatiro failure.—
The crop of wheat and outs are tolerably
good.
[From tho I-aG range Reporter, 23*1.

from tlio farmer* in regard to the condi
tion of crape. fn many place* the wheat

corn crop is irregular both as to a stand
and m to size. Much of tho cottou Is
very small and Is not doing will at all.—
The frnlt crop is n poor. Only the oat
crop is good. We regret to hear so man’
complnims, but feur that they are wcl
grounded.
1 Front tho Knoxville Pre#« and Herald-
The cutting of the wheat crop has been
pretty well finished in this section.—
About one-fourth the acreage has been
abandoned as not worth cutting, whilst
many fields of that cut will scarcely yield
tho seed. It is thought that the crop
will not roach half as much as last year.
Our information from tho upper oouotiee
of East Tennessee and Virginia ore more
favorable.
(From the Morristowu Gazette.
The harvesting of the wheat crop is
nearly nlanit through with in this section,
and of course, we cannot as yet state with
any accuracy what will be the yield. Dur
ing the past week wc have made inquiries
into its condition in all portions of the
county, and the results are so various that
anything like an estimate now would be
guess work. While some farmers will be
fortunate enough to count on ten or
twelve bushels per acre, many will not
Secure three or four, and some might be
willing to exuhuugu for their seed next
season. Making, however, an average,
we think that the yield of the county may
reach two thirds of a crop, with tho prob
ability that it will bo under that estimate.
Wc are glad, however, to hear that the
grain iH good.
(From Uic Cleveland Danner.
Our furmeru are about through cut
ting their wheat, and all agree in the
opinion that in thin .notion there will
not bo more than u third of a crop mode,
mid if the miuu continue uh they liuvo
for tho hut ten days, what littlo wheat
we liuvo made will be materially injured
in the shook. The corn crop look* well,
but owing to bo muoli wet weather the
crop iu gutting foul and ncoda work bul
ly. Tho oat crop in mid to be premia-
ing, although we hear that the black ruat
has atruok it in aomo localitiea. The hay
crop falls Hliort of an average one, almost
ono-tliird. With till exception of applis
wc will have an abundance of ull kinda of
fruit.
