Democratic party in the Slates of
Pennsylvania, Ohio and Maine have
resolved, in effect, that “ihe end sanc
tifies the meant.” This is the plain
English of their action.
The next great political demon.t:

the emblematic representatives of ths
thirteen States of 1787, and to drink
of the fire-water of the great spring.
The season of buds lias passed, the
season of flowers has come, and the
season of fruits will come when the
spoils are distributed after the elec
tions and before the season of snows
has come. Your correspondent will
give you some elucidation of the doc

of General I/ee’s famous and favorite
war horse. Traveler. The horse was
injured by running a nail into his
foot and died of lock-jaw Tuesday
morning. The people of Lexington
sorrowed greatly for the noble animal
and deeply regret his 1 as.

the Courier-Journal desires to accom
plish anything beyond an obtrusive
parade of his blatant and disgusting

Mr. Davis. They “accept the situa
tion" which the Radicate hare forced

ly matriculated physician and a quack
vender of patent nostrums. Mr. rite-
phens is a statesman, whose ability is
recognized wherever the Kuglish lan
guage is spokeu. Tim editor of the
Courier-Joarual is a person who has
some reputation as an amateur musi
cian, and.' who undoubtedly has a
knock at what is known as “fins”
writing." His present position, how
ever, appears to have been the result
