Nhw Yobs, Sept. 20.—It is reported that two esses of Asiatic Cholera appeared st Pertli-Amboy. The victims are Uer as immigrants who recently loaded. The reported wreck of the Typhoon is aoneet; bat s typhoon at Keeting Island, in the Pacific Ocean, wrecked a number of vessels, and a number of lives were lock Beoorder Quemey has arrived. There was a requiem mass to-day laf the souls of the Pontificial Zouaves, who fell, s year sgo, defending Home. Treasurer Spinner came on the China. There is a perfect calm about the City Ha* sad the new eoartboaae. Deputy Comptroller Green it in quiet posses sion. The steamboat Fort hoe, was cut to the water’s edge by the steamer Kerens, from Boston. The Lee was run ashore. None were lost. The Post learns, on good authority, that eorlvin the summer, city vouchers for $3,(500,000, wero #101011 from the Comptrollers office. The Major aul other* outside the Comptroller’s office, have only recently learned of that ul) straction. The City Auditor, through wlioee hand* these vouchers passed, was a sou of Connolly, and is now in Europe. Up to 4 o’clock Mayor Hall issued no orders revoking the order ignoring Comp troller Connolly aud his deputies. The Evening News says: tho person who stole the vouchers is known, and a Warrant is out for his arrest The Posts article add*: “the fact that the vouchers were miming, however, was belie veil, for good reasons, bv the edi tors of the Evening Post early in the present mouth, and was referred to in a leading article us a subject of inquiry. It now appears that the condition of the Comptroller’s rocords is even worse than was 8unposcd. The City Auditor, through whose hands those vouchers passed, and responsible for these voucher#, was J. Townsend Counolly, sou of (lie Comp troller. Ho has since left this country and gone to Europe, aud Mr. Herring has taken his plaoe. Up to the time of going to press, we have not been able to learn whether tho vouchers were missing immediately after Connolly's sou’s de parture; nor have we auv fact# which di rectly tend to implicate him iu the theft It was said some days ago, by mou who knew that these vouchers were miming, that it was designed in the Comptroller’s office to manufacture new vouchers in •lace of these; but we do not find evi- ence that such is the case: but it is be lieved. Mayor Hall will make of ficial use of this robl>ery as well as of the latter one to the utmost, for the purpose of driving Mr. Connolly from office.” The Parks’ Department has made a requisition on tho Comptroller for the money required to meet tbo payments due on the pay rolls. This is distinct recognition of Connolly’s right to per form tho duties of Comptroller.
