Mr. Gentry will remain in Atlanta to-day, and will leave this evening to attend the Eatooton Fair. He will return to Atlanta in time for our Fair next week. A Mammoth Apple. Sage, the General Superintendent of the Air-Line Railroad, crar reporter was in formed that twenty-five miles of the road beyond Gainesville were nearly ready for th« Iron, which will be laid down is a few days. Also, that ten miles of iron have been laid down this way, commencing at Charlotte, and tliafc seventy-five miles are nearly completed, that the track layers will'not be able lo wrfth up with the grading. Early yesterday morning, a negro named Richard Kondrick, a laborer on the turnpike, was walking down the Air Lino Railroad, near the depot He waa blind in one eye aud deaf in one ear, caused from a gun-shot wound. The man waa looking at the Georgia train, which was coming in, and did not hear tho Air Line train, which was going out and dose behind him. Several persons who saw k*m attempted to apprise him of his danger by yells and motions, which seemed to confuse him. The en gineer used everything in his power to alarm him, aud one person took hold of him just as the train came up, but turned him loose iu order to save himself.
