New York, October 18.—The Colom bia triumphed again over the Lizouia, by one fourth of a mile. The failure of the Atlantic Fire Insur ance Company, of Brooklyn, is announc ed here. The Chicago losses are far greater than was supposed. The value of the property seized by the Revenue officers, at Brooklyn yester day, supported by 1,000 Federal soldiers, is only $11,000. The National Insurance Convention is largely amended—Miller, presiding. He believed the New York Companies will be able to pay ninety per cent; but should have time to gather their re sources. He believed the Are in Chicago was the result of badly constructed build ings, and stated that in Paris or London a tire would burn itself in one block. The Chamber of Commerco memorial izes the President for Government aid for the Michigan sufferers, assuring him that Congress will sanction the outlay.
