Gov. Palmor, after alluding to circum
stances attending the death of Grosve-
nor, concludes: I think you will perceive
it is now tho dnty of tho Governor and
Attorney General, and and all other offi
cers, to see tbut the lows are enforced
against all partiea concerned in these ille
gal and dangeron i acts. It is not necea-
sriy, in determining a lino of duty to he
adopted, to inquire whether the Mayor
of Chicago, Lient Gen. Sheridan and
W.T. Sherman and his aseociatesand sup
posed subordinates,who were the agents
by which tho death of Thos. Grosvcnor
was produced iu assuming powers they
did not possess, and which cannot be
conferred upon them, were influenced
by prajiiff or improper motives or pur
pose*.' They assumed to suspend tlie
operation of the Constitution and laws
of tho State, and substitute in their

They, by their lawless act, at

One of the most impudent of all the
actions performed during the flro was
related yestoday. Orrintou Luut, Esq.,
one of oar oldest snd best citizens, had
draggod his piano from bis residence, on
Michigan uveuue, and was tolling along
with it, when two men with a dray accos

longed. Ho replied that it was his own,
