Athens has been exalted to the pris
tine glory of her illustrious predecessor,
and her Seven Wise Men have returned
to her hallowed precincts to proclaim the
joyful tiding of her triumph. Tho bill
for the removal of the Court Honae from
Watkinsvilleto Athens, which was passed
in tlia Senate by a vote of 28 to 11,
passed tho Route, unauimomdy, yester
day. The parties interested agreed upon
a compromise, providing that the advo
cates of the removal should cue their
influence to obtain a charter for » new
county of which Watkmaviile. is to
be the county site. We rejoice in this
amicable adjustment of a question which
tkr^afrned to oetaange tba attizeoa of
this veteran old county.

Look Out fob Deceptive Tickets in
the City Enacnox.—The election for
Mayor and Council takes place next
Wednesday week, the Cth of December;
It is conoeded that the Democrats will
walk over the oourse without any organ
ised opposition. Only one Radical, no
far, has announced himself ss a candi
date for Council—that is Mr. Bamuel W.
Grubb, Radical member of the present
Council from the 3d Ward, who is iu-
drtitod lor his present position to the
Holcombe bill, which ‘‘Gerrymandered’’
the oily in the last election.
Wc have heard it stated that Mr. Grubb
is preparing tickets which huve on tnem
the names of all the Democratic nomi
nees, except one, in his (Third) Ward,
for which he substitutes his own name.
We have not seen these tickets, and do
not know that ho is preparing them, but
suppose that ho is either doing so or will
do so. These tickets, of oourse, will be
voted by the Radicals, and are intended
to be "shoved" into the hands of unsus
pecting Democrats, to aeouro the votes of
those who would not knowingly vote for
Mr. Grubb or any other Radioed.
We montiou the matter to caution the
publio, and request the Deinocrury of
Atlanta to be on tho ulort.
