THE ANDES INSURANCE COMPANY “ The financial statement of the And lusurauco Company, which we pub lish to-day, and which may accepted as strictly sorraot, is a highly satisfactory exhibit of its affairs, under the terrible ordeal of tbj Chicago fire. Its Chicago losses amount to 8850,000 and when paid will leave a dear capital and surplus of 91,228,148 46, by far a larger amount than suy other Western company possesses, and fully equal to the beat of those in the East—indeed, far so perior to many of them. The great Lon don Are of 1666 gave birth to the system of fire insurance, and it is a safe predic tion that the Chioago fire, which, iu every way, surpassed that of London, will stim ulate the horiness of strong Amerioua companies. Especially will thia be ths ease with companies like the Andes, whose stockholders do not hesitate to sub scribe 8500,000 in cash to preserve tkair capital unimpaired.
