The Great Garbed Cotton Case.—
The great cotton lawsuit between Garsed
and the Bealls, in the Circuit Court of
the United States—the approaching triul
of which we noticed some time ago, and
which came to a hearing last week in Sa
vannah, was decided in favor of the
Bealls. An appeal has bee 1 entered,
taking it up to the Supreme Court of the
United States. It is said that a million
of dollars or more is involved in the case.
THE BONDS OF GEORGIA.

To protect the people of the State of
Georgia against the illegal and fraudu
lent issue of bonds and securities, and
for other purposes connected with the

be bonds of the State of Georgia, and
divera bonds bearing the indorsement of
the State, hnve been issued and put '
circulation by Rufus B. Bullock, late
Governor of said State, *nd divers bonds
issued prior to his ad ministration, have
been negotiated by him: And, whereah,

bonds have been illegally and frandulei .
ly issued and negotiated, and the extc it
of said bonds so issued and negotiated
is unknown to this General Assembly.
Section 1. Be it ejacted by tho Senate
and House of Representatives of the State
of Georgia, That there shall be a commit
tee appointed of three, one by the Presi
dent of the Senate, and two by the
Speaker of the House of Representa
tives, who shall huve full power and au
thority to examine and ascertain tho
number of bonds which hnve been is-

amount thereof ; and ao far us they have
been sold or hypothecated, by whom
sold, tho amount of mouey paid, to whom
paid, when paid, for what pnrpoae nego
tiated, aud ail other feats connected with
undersigned joint committee, appointed
by the President of the Senate and
Speaker of the House of Representatives,
under authority of the foregoing act of
the General Assembly of Georgia, will
begin oar sittings in the city of Atlanta,
State of Georgia, United States of Amer
ica, on the first day of March, 1872, and
will remain in session until the first day
of May, 1872, for the purposes indicated
in said aot

holding the bonds of the State of Geor
gia, or the bonds of Railroads indorsed
by the State of Georgia, and who expect
to present the same to the committee, is
called to the first section of said act, as
to the nature of the testimony required.

all persons holding bonds of the State of
Georgia, or bearing the indorsement of
soul State, issued since July, 1808, ore

committee for registration on or before
the first day of April, 1872, and upon
failure so to reiiort said bonds, and to
submit the same for registration, the same
