A CONSULTAmN.
On Saturday evening the President
held a long consultation with General
Sherman, Attorney General Williams,

attentively listened, and which will
probably be o&rried out before the olose

The administration is unable to under
stand why Mr. Kellogg do^ not make a
requitition for Federal troops, aa it is
olaimed that he has a perfect right to do
in tbe absence of the legislature, to
maintain peace and assist tbe civil au
thorities iu administering the laws. It
is said that bo is the proper judge to de
termine whether there is any condition
iu eooiety that required an interference
of the army, and that any aid he might
require would be promptly furnished so
far aa the President ia connected.
