Bench ; where the report of the se

Commons had already been presen

LONDON, JUNE 12.
Lord Vifcuont Melville's speech
will be read with interest. Upon
the fubjed of the 10,0001. and o

naval porpofes, his lordship positive
ly declared, that “ private honor,

WILMINGTON, (n. C.) AUGUST 6
The Fleets.—Capt. Minor, who
arrived at Newbern on the 28th
ultimo, from the Weft-Indies, in
forms, that a few days previous to
that date between Cape 11 atteras
arid Burmuda, he fell in with the
Ftench fleet, consisting of 21 fail
of the line ; they were under easy
fail, and appeared to be (landing
for Norfolk or Philadelphia.—The
next day he spoke Admiral Nelson
with 12 fail of the line and 5 frig
ates, who immediately after obtain
ing information from capt. Minor
of the course the French were {leer
ing, crowded fail and pursued them.
It was the opinion of capt. Mi
nor that Nelson would overtake
them before they could reach the
Chefapeak or Delaware.
If the above information be cor r
rest, which wf cannot doubt,
knowing capt. M. to be a man of
yeracky, it is strongly presumable
that an engagement has already
taken place ; and we may daily ex
pe£l to hear of the important event.
