The pedlar flopped at a house,

was invited into the house and pres

ivfrefhment, which he at la ft con

held his head and the other cut his
throat; they then put him in the
cart, {bur ir up &'darted the horse.
The horte travelling out of the read

no peribn near, undertook to open
the lid, and there found the dead
body-—he turned the horie & dart
ed him back the road he appeared
to have come, and the hcife (lop
ped where he had been fed—the
man went in, and found the two
women examining the plunder they

Dreadful lor undo. —Between the
hours of 1 and 2 P. M. yesterday,
the atfertion of the citizens of
Knoxville was called to witness a
feehe the mod awfully majestic
winch has or ever may preferu itfelf
to human eyes. The ears were hi ft
by a roar (bint thing like
what we hear when near the fi-a in
a fiorm—But as this vein or cur
rent of air approached Knoxville,
which fee rued to threaten it with to
tal demolition, large bov's of trees,
or probably entire trees were seen
iufpended in the 3:r, while large
and continued {bowers of hail,
| fome of which measured nine inch
es in circumference, together with
[ inctfiant dreams of lightning, made
[ the gloom more terriffic.
