On the Bth of March, the Re

inonfhancc from the clergy of Ca
diz, in which they alleged, that
from motives of conscience they de
ft red to he excused fiom complying
with that part of the law, which re
quired them to read in their rdp.c
tive churches, to their congrega
tions, the law lor abolishing the re
quiTttion.
1 he cortes confidercd this aft of
the clergy as an open reliltance of
the law of the land, ar.d in which
they had been countenanced by the
regency, in the acceptance of tie ir
re m. nr. (franc**, and in permuting
them to officiate in to ir churches
without reading the law An an
imated difeufiion rock place, which
terminated in a decree removing
the regency, and they were accor
dingly removed, anew regency cre
ated, and the law was the next day
read in all the churches by their re
fpeftive pallors. Ihe Cardinal of
Bourbon is at the Imad of the pre
sent regency.
