MUSIC RECITAL
The music recital in the high school
auditorium Monday evening given by
the pupiis of Miss Ruby McConnell
was full of interest and afforded
great pleasure to the large audience
present.
Miss McConnell’s program was
beautiful selection, including class
songs and piano solos' by some tiny
tots, a “lullaby” sung by a group o£
small girls with their dolls was es-j
pecially attractive.
The recital reflected much cr. d‘.
on the teacher and pupils and gave
the utnost satisircDcn to all who at¬
tended.
SLAPPEY-MADDUX WEDDING
INTERESTING EVENT
Interest of the week centered in
the wedding of Miss Gladys Slappey
and Mr. Henry Towns Maddux, of
Atlanta, which was solemnized at
high noon, Wednesday at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Harris, on
East Main street.
The event was marked by unusual
beauty and charming simplicity. The
home was decorated throughout with
southern smilax, ferns and Easter
lilies. In the living room where the
nuptials were pronounced, and impro- I
vised altar served as a background
for the ceremony, while baskets of
lilies and burning added furth- ■
tapers !

ceding the ceremony, which was per¬

Slappey, of Atlanta, dressed in white
entered carrying white ribbons to
form an aisle for the wedding party.
The dainty little ring bearer, Miss
Gladys Estelle Souder, dressed in
blue chiffon over gold preceded the
bride.

The W. M. S. of the Methodist

P. Bussey, of Mt. Airy, Ga., brought
her eldest son, Gene, here to be un¬
der the care of Dr. G. P. Kline. The
child was severely burned last Sun¬
day when his clothing caught file
before an open grate. Mrs. Bussey
