The farmer’s conference that
closed here Friday was in many re '
spects one of the most helpful and
inspiring conferences that ever has
been held here by the colored farm

county and from adjoining counties
the farmers and club members came
,to the conference bringing with them
their exhibits of home cured meat,
canned products, butter, eggs and
paultry.
The exhibit of canned products
from the various communities showed
that the club women who
them had given much time and
thought to the best methods of mod¬
ern canning and preserving fruits
and vegetables and the meat looked
much better in quality. There was
also a poultry show, the first that
has been held in connection with the

I THOMASTON PREPARING FLOAT
(Thomaston Times)
At the Tuesday night meeting or
the Kiwanis club of Thomaston the
I committee appointed sometime ago to
prepare a float for the Peach Festival
at Fort Valley made a report of its
. tentative plans
for same. Mr. A. T.
Matthews is chairman of the com¬
mittee and has been very active in
getting up the plans for the float. He
stuted that a peach crate of the size
^ a j ar( , e truck and mounted on a
truck ha<l been decided on as the de¬
sign ” of the float. It will be a com¬
plect crate for peaches and will be
filled with young ladies to represent
peaches. A large peach will bo paint¬
ed on the ends of the orate and la¬
beled "Thomastoa Pe ie5.’’ the idea
being to emphasize the superior size
quality of Thomaston peaches.
Other details of the float will be
worked out by the comnrttee and it
promises to be one of the most
unique and attractive of the Peach
