Garden Club Federation Closes Year
With And
On Thursday night, May 7th, th.o
Fort Vulley Federation of Garden
Clubs closed the elub year with
a supper and program at the Am
ericaw Legion which was in honor
of their husbands and other guests, j
The Magnol'n Club served as host
ess of the covered dish supper.
The president of the Fort Vail
ley Federated Garden Club, Mrs.
Lawton Pearson, presided over the
program and she summerized the
year’s work.
A feature of the program was
a millinery affair when six Fort
Valley businessmen trimmed hats I
with flowers, and afterward they '
were- modelled by the wiv^s ofj
the men. The models were Mrs.
Edgar Duke, Jr., Mrs. L. W. Smith
Mrs. Bill Tom Jones, Mrs. Willis
Webb, Mrs. Richard Parks and
Mrs. Ray Schofield.
Another feature of the program
was the modelling of a hand paint- j
ed evening dress by Mrs. Heard
Bartlett. The dress was hand-'
painted by Mrs. Norman Fair
cloth and was modelled at the
Biltmore Hotel in Atlanta at the
Beautician and Cosmotologist Kan
vention this spring. The paintings
on the dress were of peaches,
peach blossoms and buds.
Awards of the year were given
by the Federated Fort Valley Gar
den Clubs and presented by Mrs.
Pearson. The Minnie Belle Pear¬
son silver cup was awarded to !
Mrs. E. L. Duke, Jr. for winning
the most blue ribbons in arrange¬
ments for the year; The Pauline
Kell cup was won by Mrs. Wrtlis {
Webb for the most blue riibbqns
in horticulture for the year. The
Town and Country Garden Club
received the Beautification cup for
their work in beautification, and
especially for the beautification
of the grammar school grounds.
Mrs. C. B. Almon, the president
of the Town and Country Club,
received this award for her Club.
The new presidents of the four

Mr. and Mrs. Chester Wilson
entertained the members of tiie
Senior class of the Tallulah Falls
School and other guests at a din
ner party .at the Woman's Club
on Thursday night.
The group of seniors chaperoned
by Mr. K. W. Harris, Supt. of
School, and Mrs. Harris, are on a
tour of southeast Georgia', and in
route spent the night in Fort Val
ley. Mr. and Mrs. Harris visited
in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wil¬
son and the members of the class
visited in the homes of boys and

the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wilson,
Mrs. Wilson is a trustee of the
