The Fort Valley State University Wildcats football team ended the first week of spring practice on Saturday with their first day In full pads.
-/ feel good about our first week of workoutssaid head coach Donald Pittman. Things are progressing well, and we're right on schedule In some aspects and ahead of
schedule In others. Thankfully, we got through the first week with no Injuries. We have some minor bumps and bruises, but that's to be expected."
Most of Saturday's drills consisted of position workouts and some light scrimmaging between the offensive and defensive units.
Fort Valley State will hold Its annual Blue & Gold spring game on April 18.

Aaron Featherston, a band
student at Peach County High,
will be traveling abroad this
summer. The 11th grade trum¬
peter was chosen out of 20,000
Georgia high school band stu¬
dents to play with the 2009
Georgia International Honor
Band. Aaron was recommend¬
ed by his band director Darren
Johnson. The trip will be from
June 27 through July 5, visiting
parts of England and France.
The band will do concerts in
London and Normandy. The
Normandy performance will
be a special July 4th concert
Peach Schools Non-Resident
Non-resident applications
for the Peach County School
District are now available. Any
student who lives outside of
Peach County is eligible to
apply. Applications are avail
able at each Peach County
school; parents should return
completed applications to the

died during the D-Day invasion
in 1944.
Johnson said that Aaron is an
outstanding student and gifted
musician. He auditioned and
earned first chair in the Georgia
Music Educators Association
District 11 High School Honor
Band and will be performing in
the All Region Band April 16-
18 at Valdosta State University.
He also said that Aaron would
be an excellent representative of
Peach County High and for the
entire county.
Aaron has been playing
trumpet since 6th grade.
Aaron says of the tour, ”It’s a
school that their child is zoned
to attend on or before April 17,
2009. All approved applicants
must pay tuition. The tuition
price will be determined after
June 30,2009, and must be paid
before August 3,2009, which is
the first day of school. For more

in a lifetime opportunity. It’s
all about hard work and dedica¬
tion to something I am so pas¬
sionate about.

camp at Peach County High
School practice fields on April
25, 2009. The camp will be
held from 9:00 am until 12:00
pm. The registration cost is $35
and includes lunch and a camp
T-shirt. Students in grades

Robert Sapp Baseball Camp

THE 20TH Annusl Robert Sapp Baseball
Camp is accepting applications for its
summer session to be4 held ad Houston
County High School in Warner Robins.
The camp Is June 15 - June 19, from 9
a.m. - 3 p.m. and is for ages 7-14. Six
year olds may attend If they ate skilled
enough to play with the seven-year-old
groups. The fee Is 8125 with team rates
available. ($10 discount for five or mote
players from one sprlngfsummer league
team, or travel team).
University of Georgia head baseball
coach Robert Sapp wiH be the Camp
Director. Coach Sapp has directed
numerous camps for the past 28 years
throughout the state o? Georgia. Over
100 of Sapp’s former players have
signed professional contract* and nine¬
teen have played In the major leagues.
Artist Work To Be
The C.W. Pettigrew Farm and Community Life Center is featuring the art work of Michael T.
Gillies, a Houston County School System art teacher at Perry Primary School. An exhibit featuring
the Perry native’s landscapes will be displayed during the gallery’s regular business hours from 8 a.m.
until 9 p.m. weekdays, and during special events nights and weekends.
Gillies earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting Studio and Art Education at Murray State
University, and a Master of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing Studio at Louisiana State University.
