HARDWARE!
a
Word to Our
Friends.
W e have recently purchase^ the stock of
goods of p. P. Hudson and have open=
ed up a FIRST=CLA5S HARDWARE STORE 7- "‘*"'"7
in the same building. We have opened up
this stock for the benefit of those who need
anything in our line, also with a view of mak
ing an honest living for odrselves.
Our Mr. R. L. Rawls selected the stock,
and as you all know, he is uptodate in the
business. He knows the wants of the people
as he has been selling them their hardware
for several years, which is worth a great
deal to the trading public.
This stock was bought with care and pa=
tience, and the variety of same is about com
plete as we have a pretty full stock of every
thing belonging to a first-class stock of hard
ware. But the biggest and best part of it all
is we bought our goods extremely low and
propose to sell the same way.
We heartily invite one and all to give us
a visit and see what we have got and how
we propose to sell it.
Yours truly,
RAWLS & HAY.

If you are a one horse farmer
we would suggest the following
program for the present year:
Ten hours a day and six days in
a week. When you get out of a
job cut stove wood until you can
think of something else to do.
Plant ten acres in corn, one in
potatoes, one in sorghum, one in
popcorn, peanuts and Irish pota
toes, sow wheat , oats, peas and
sorghum for forage in proportion,
and plant the rest of your crop
in cotton. If you are a two
horse farmer double the dose
and we guarnantee three doses
will make a complete cure.
Bring us your job work.

WViind the rojids in our county
in very bad condition, partly
from want, of wor«c and partly to
bad weather. We think how
ever tliat need of work is the i
principal -cause and from the
lights before ns we see no way
by which the roads in our county
will ever bo put in good con
dition under the old system.
Wo therefore recommend that the
roatl law by taxation as provided
for the law of 181)5, volume one,
article two known as alternative
road raw, put in force by the
proper authorities anti that if
■said law cannot be put in opera
tion immediately that the road
commissioners of litis - county
have their various roads putin
good*condition at once and con
tinue to keep them tip until the
said alternative road law can be
put in operation by providiug for
said law with funds as thereiu
provided. Wo further recommend
that, if for a want of funds es
peciullv provided for' the imme
diate operation of this alterna
tive road law as above mention
ed the law cannot bo put ia
force during the present year or
until taxes are collected on or
before December 20th, 15)08, as
provided in the general tax law,
fliat t he ordinary furnish funds
out, of the funds of the county
available for such work to help
biro teams, etc,, for the immedi
ate improvements of said roads
and continue from time to time
to help -to build up the rough
places out, of said available funds
until he can by law collect and
provide said spocial fund as pro
vided for in said alternative
road law.
We Iind that in the past, the
road hands have not worked the
road at the U. I*. Henderson mill
near Nobo now belonging to
Borina V. Davis and Delia A.
Furr. We recomnmend that the
commissioners Itav'e the hands on
that roatl work through us other
roads, including the approaches
to the dam and across the dant.
Wo.reeeominend that the ordin

creek near the Harris Wade old
home jn Dallas district, near
where the widow Harris Wade
now lives, We Iind some ob
structions in the road near W. J.
Austin and Ben j. Owen in the
Humphreys district. Wo re
commend that Messrs. Austin
and Owen remove said obstruct
ion or make same in good pass
able condition.

Kickerson of California district

lieve them to be worthy and rec-

according to their necessity.
To his Hon. Judge Bartlett wo
