Raising Hogs.
There is great demand for hogs
and hog meat, and that in our
own Sunny South where hogs
prosper and can be kept on very
small rations. Few fanners know
lmw to raise hogs, and some of
them confess it. A hog is easily
raised, cheaply fattened and is
one of t he most profitable ani
mals we have. If dogs were
treated like hogs, there would
soon be no dogs in this country.
The dog is fed on a plate or plank ;
the hog in the dirt or dust. The
dog is given a good sleeping place,
the hog none at all, except as lie
providos for himself. The dog is
housed from the weather; the
hog takes the cold and sleeps in
the rain.
Prepare a shelter for your hogs
in bad weather and let them
sleep in a bed of straw on a
plank floor where the dust will
not make them sniff. Feed them
in a trough or on a plank floor
where the feed will not mik with
the dirt. Feed thorn" at night
and let them go foraging by day
light in the morning. Keep the
lice off with insect, powders or
turpentine spray, and you will
have the brag bogs of your com
munity.—Vienna Progress.
A. Kipmukablo Case.
One of the most remarkable eases of n
cold, dicp-si'ulcd on the lungs, causing
pneumonia, is that of Mrs. Gertrude E.
Funner, Marion, Ind., who was entirely
cured by the use of One Minute tough
tore. She says : “ The coughing and
straining so weakened mu that I run down
in weight from 1.4U to DC pounds. I tried
a number of remedies to no avail until 1
used One .linute Cough Cure. Four
bottles of tins wonderful remedy cured
me entirely of the cough, strengthened
my lungs and restored me to my normal
weight, health and strength.” A. J.
Cooper & Jo’s. Drug Store.
Goethe said: “Tell me not of
your doubts ‘ and discourage
ments; 1 have plenty of my own.
But talk to me of your hope and
faith. People in. general do not,
care tu hear other people’s “tales
of woe,” and are more bored than
entertained by the persons who
persists in talking of his or her
troubles. Avoid mention of the
disagreeable things that, may
come into your life; if poii ■ can
not be patient, you can at least
ho silent. The secret of success
lies not so much in knowing what
to say as in what to avoid saying,
says an exchange.
Elbert County Wants Good Roads.
We must have good roads.
The people were never more
unanimous on any subject.
livery one realizes that the
price of cotton and other pro

transportation over the rail-
rords and ships to the foreign
market.
in like manner is the pro

the condition of the wagon
roads that leads to the railroad.
The cost ef transportation
has been reduced very mater
ially in every way except from
the"farm to the market, which
still remains the same as thirty
years ago, and all because of
unimproved roads.—Elherton
