This is Dallas’ time.
The future of our town were
never so flattering as now.
Several earthquake shocks
were felt in Dalton Sunday.
Hall county will issue one
hundred thousand dollars worth;
of bonds to build pood roads. j
Atlanta is after that Presby-j
tlirian university, and from the
present outlook she will get. it.
Tuesday was St. Patrick’s day
and loyal sons of the Emerald
isle celebrated the event in
j rout splendor.
It is time now for all prowlers,
•makers and loafers to pet a job

sive element needs their room.
President. Iloosevelt and ex-
Presidont Grover Cleveland are
both to speak at. the dedication

JUDGE MADDOX .
WILL RUN AGAIN.
We copy the following from
the Rome Tribune:
Judge John W. Maddox was
seen by a Tribune reporter and
made the official statement that
he would again be a cannidate
for congress at the next election
in 1904.
This coining officially from
Judge Maddox will no doubt put
to rest the rumors that have been
circulated to the effect that he
would not be a candidate to suc
ceed himself. ,
Judge Maddox was highly hon
ored at the close of the last, ses
sion of congress ,by the Georgia
delegat ion in a petitean to Speak
er Cannon asking that the sev
enth’s representative be placed
on the ways and means commit
tee.
This is one of the most impor
tant committees of the national
house of representative, ifpd
speak volumes of the high stand
ing of Judge Maddox in congress.
Judge Maddox has many
friends over the seventh congrss-
ional district who will learn with
much pleasure tlifit he iignin in
tends to be a candidate to rep
resent them.
SEABOARD AIR LINE.
Mr, J. R. W. Thomas has com
pleted the cross-staking of the
Seaboard and “mustered” his
party out of service Saturday
night.
Canstrctor Dunn, hailing from
New York, will place his machin
ery, camps, mules, etc., on the
line during this week and the
many men employed will present
an unusual spectacle for people
of the vicinities through which
the survey runs.
Mr. J. B. Redmond has a large
force of men moving dirt at the
| tunnel and it will not be many
days before you can walk through
the mountain as well as over.
The new survey crosses the
Southern Railway at. the copper
mine instead of the second bridge.

RURAL FREE DELIVERY SERVICf
One of the most common mis
takes made by the people of this
and other counties, says the Car-
roll County Times, is that too
many communities permit them
selves to be led by interested
fourth class post masters to be
deprived of tlie benefits, of this
service. The postmaster, having
a little office that, will pay any
where from $10 to $50 per year,
fearing that a Free Delivery
Route \\ill cause his office to be
abolished, goes around with a
petition ampng his neighbors and
gets them to oppose the route.
In the mean time the route is
laid out. so as to leave his little
ollice, and as its patronage is tak
en away it will eventually die,
and then when too late the com
munity sees its mistake. Wo
fear several good communities in
this county are going to stiller
just this way. There are two

Gentlemen:—FOLEY’S HONEY AND TAR cured me of consump

failed to give me any relief and the last one said he could do me no good. I tried
almost every medicine I heard tell of without benefit until FOLEY’S HONEY
AND TAR was recommended to me. Its effect right from the start was magical.
I improved steadily from the first dose and am now sound and well, and think
