he never recovered. Dr. K. E. Ca

DISAPPOINTED
Did yon ever (eel disappointed?
Well, isn’t it almost the worst
thing that ever crossed yonr
path. It is simply fearful to
even contemplate the pangs of
disappointment.
That is the way we felt t when
our eyes fell upon an article in
last week’s Acworth Post. Not
that we envy Aoworth, for we
rejoice with her citizens in the
progressive spirit they have
shown in putting in water works,
and organizing this fire depart
ment.
Remember too, that they
voted bonds long after Dallas
did.
Futher comment, we think, is
nnneoesary.
We hope, however, it will
have an awakening effect upon
our mayor and city council, and
that we can soon be able to say
that work has actually begun on
our water works.
It will be a reflection on our
town to delay this important
matter much longer.
The article in the Post is re
produced as follows:
Tho Acworth Fire Departme nt
when fully equipped as proposed by
tlie council, will be complete in ev
ery particular and conform to the
standard required by the insurance
companies.
Two handsome reels witli 1000 feet
of hose arrived Wednesday. Two
other reels of like capacity and i
hook and ladder wagon will be or
dered.
It is also the intention of the coun
cil to purchase a lot contrally locat
ed and build an up-to-date station
house with equipment hall assembly
and dressing rooms.
It will be the duty of tho chief of
fire department elected by tlie city
council to select tlie members and
his sub-officers from volunteers and
to have general supervision of the
department.
On the recommendation of the
chief at the close of tlie year, those
members who have been faithful in
the discharge of their duty in the
department will be exempt from
street tax.
It is also proposed by the council
to install a complete electric alarm
system.
There will probably be two com
panies of perhaps ten men to each.
Then read what they are doing
at Adairsville, another progres
sive little town:
Work is progressing rapidly on the
waterworks at Adairsviville. Pipes
are being laid in the residences.
Many are having bath rooms built.
Calhoun Times.
» Adairsville has also raised a hand
some sum of money to build a public
park iu the center of town.

The liberal patronage bestowed upon us the past year by the
zens of this seefion is most highly appreciated. Words are really inad
equate to express our gratitude and thanks. And we have the con
sciousness that we sold nothing but the best for the money invested.
It is our aim to do business strictly on the square-treating everyone
fairly and justly. We consider our success due to that one thing more
than anything else.
Since moving into our large new store, which Is located between
E. M. Gooper and T. R. Griffin, we are better prepared than ever to
to handle our ever increasing trade, and we extend one and all an invi
tation to visit us at our new place and examine our stock and see our
new building. We would be glad if you would make our store head
quarters while in town. You are perfectly welcome.
Wishing you all abundant prosperity and hoping to see you soon,
we are, Yours truly,
