It’s \>agon Wisdom that prompts a farmer to
select a Weber Wagon. He knows that the 61 years
experience in wagon building which stands behind
every wagon is a guarantee that when he buys a
Weber he buys the highest quality. Sixty-one years
of wagon building have resulted in the Weber wagon
of today, which, for correct design, excellence of
material and conscientious construction, stands with*
out a peer — King of all farm wagons.

Talk With Young Men.
The young man with limited
menus, who has but a few hun
dred dollars to begin life with, or
perhaps has nothing but a pair of
strong and willing hands, we
would say to all such young men
that the farm is the best place in
the world. Do not be afraid of
toil but set an example to the
weak, lazy loiterer about town
by putting your hand to the plow.
If you are a young married
man then the farm offers still
greater inducements. We know
it will coBt your young wife some
pangs to separate from friends
and home in the town, but if she
is a truejwoman she will do it
without a murmur, for the battle
of life is an earnest one, and we
must each sustain pur part. Do
not expect to begin your married
life ito the same style that your
father and mother are now en
joying in their old age, with the
fruits of many years toil; but be
contented to begin humbly.
Plant, and sow, and reap;build
your dwellings, and garnish them
about with fruits and dowers;
promote agriculture, one of the
great institutions of God; and
when your sons and daughters
grow up like oliye plants around
your table, while yon fail not to
remember their physical wants,
remember also to supply their in
tellectual food the mind oraves;
let them have good books and
papers and proper recreation,
that they may not imbibe the
false notion that farming
drudgery and every farmer and
farmer’s wife a drudge.
As we look about us, how many
sons and daughters of wealthy
farmers we see who despise their
surroundings, and only look on
'father” as a very necessary ma'
chine to coin money for .their ex>
penditure, and "mother,” who
has labored for them every day
since they were born, as a very
useful automaton for doing cook
ing and general house work.
When you are tilling the rich
soil think how much worthier
the cause you are prosecuting
than to crowd into some already
over-stocked business or profess
ion in your home town, with on
ly one object in view—to have
white hands and immaculate
clothing, and to be always strug
gling with your limited means to
keep up with those in outward
seeming who are much wealthier
than yourselves.
Slaves ol Oold.
Who are the leaders in our
best society, generally speaking?
Why, a man may carry a whole
library in his head, and if his
coat be seedy and his pocket
empty he is nowhere; while
brainless fop whose attire
faultless, and who carries /a full
purse, is a first-rate, smart fel
low. What chance has a young
lady a little out of style, who has
to earn her own living, to shine
in society by the side of one of
our fashionable ladies whose papa
is a millionaire? Socially we are
the slaves of gold. Old-fashion
ed people look at it in the old
fashioned way, and say it is all
wrong. And so it is; but it is a
fact that stares us in the face
that those who are worth the
most are considered as of the
most worth. After all, perhaps
the wisest man was right when
he said "The love of money is
the root of all evil.” We know
from sad exnorieuce that it iB
very inconvenient to be poor,but
no man is poor who has a happy
home and it does not require lace
curtains or velvet carpets to make
a home happy.

low low the head—do rever
ence to the old man, once like
you, The vicissitudes of life have
silvered his hair and changed the
round, merry face toj the (worn
visage before you. Once the
heart beat with aspiration, crush
ed by disappointment, as yours,
perhaps, is destined to be. Once
that form stalked promptly
through the gay scenes of pleas
ure, the beau ideal of grace; now
the band of time, that withers
the flowers of yesterday, has bent
that figure and destroyed that
noble carriage. Once at your
age, he possessed the thousand
thoughts that pass through your
brain, now wishing to accomplish
deeds equal to a nook in fame;
anon imagining life a dream that
the sooner he awoke from the
better. But he has lived the
dream very near through; the
time to awaken is very near at
hand; his eye never kindles at
old deeds of darnig, and the hand
takes a firmer grasp of the staff.
Bow low the head, boy, as you
would in your old age be rover'
enced.
Woman’s hopes are too often
blasted. In early youth many
say to themselves, “I shall be
happy when I have a husband to
love me best of all;” then when
the husband is too careless, "My
child will comfort me;” then
through the mother’s watching
and toil. "My child will repay
me when it grows up.” And at
last, after the long journey of
years has been wearily traveled
through, the mother’s heart is
weighed down by a heavy bur
den, and no hope remains but
the grave. We hope this may
not be the case with any one who
weekly read this column, but 111 1
must admit that it is often a true
history of woman's hopes.

France’s Roads Best in World.
Among the reasons which make
the highways of France the best
in the world is the requirement
that all preliminary road-making
operations shall be thoroughly
performed, says Leslie’s Weekly.
When embankments aro made,
the earthwork is built up only a
few inches at a time and, in the
neighborhood of masonry, ram
med. Every ditch is carefully
cut at a proper angle, rammed,
and, if necessary, paved with
stones. Dangerous turns are
protected by stone parapets; at
each cross road there are sign
posts, always in order, and the
Touring Club of France has es
tablished indicators to remind
the tourist of dangerous carves,
rapid descents, etc. Every rail
road crossing is protected by a
gate, which has a watchman in
charge day and night.

There can be no serious panic
in the midst of plenty unless it
is brought about by^the destroy
ers of confidence. A herd of
cattle will sometimes stampede
(that’s a cattle panic) because
the leading steer got frightened
at a little piece of paper flpating
in a fence corner. Our real ba
sis of prosperity lies in these
facts: While the United States
has only five per cent of the
world’s population, it produces
20 per cent of the world’s wheat,
25 per cent of its gold, !38 per
cent of its coal, 85 per cent of its
manufactures, 80 per cent of its
silver, 10 per cent of its iron, 42
per cent of jts steel, 52 per cent
of its petroleum, 55 per cent of
its copper, 70 per cent of its cot
ton and 80 per cont of its corn.
