labor, material, equipment and
other things necessary for the con
struction of 4.615 miles of grading
and paving and one bridge located
in Forsyth & Hall Counties on
what is locally known as the Coal
Mountain Gainesville road, State
Route 141 Beginning at the end of
the present contract approximately
5.5 miles east of State Route 9
and extending east toward Gaines
ville to the end of the present
pavement, otherwise known as Fed
eral Aid Secondary Project S 0862
(3) in Forsyth & Hall Counties.
The work will be let in one con
tract.

Said work shall begin within ten
(10) days after formal execution
of contract and shall be completed
within 200 working days. When
contract has been executed, writ
ten notice shall be given the Con
tractor, at which time, and not be
fore, work may be started.
Contract executed pursuant to
this Notice is binding on the State
Highway Department, as such.
Said contract will not create liabi
lity, expressed or implied, against
the undersigned Chairman of the
State Highway Board, as an indi
vidual nor against any employee
of the State Highway Department,
in his or her individual capapcity.
The minimum wage to be paid
under this contract shall be the
amounts set out In the Labor Pro
visions included in the Proposal.
The attention of bidders is directed
to the Special Provisions covering
employment of labor, methods of
construction, subletting or assign
ing the contract and to the use of
domestic materials.
Plans and specifications are on
file at the office of the undersign
ed at Atlanta, and at Gainesville,
Georgia, and at the office of the
Board of County Commissioners of
Forsyth & Hall Counties at Cum
ming, Ga., and Gainesville, Georgia
where they may be inspected free
of charge. Copies of the plans may
be obtained upon payment in ad
vance of the sum of $ll.OO. Copies

be obtained upon payment in ad
vance of the sum of S3.WO, which
sums will not be refunded.
Proposals must be submitted on
regular forms, which will be sup
plied by the undersigned, and may
be obtained by a payment, in ad
vance of $5.00 for each proposal
issued. .When the proposal is sub
mitted, it muftt be accompanied hy
a certified check, cashier’s check,
negotiable United States Bonds, or
other acceptable security in the
amount of $3000.00, and must be
plainly marked “Proposal for Road
Construction,” County and Num
ber, and show the time of opening
as advertised. Check of the low
bidder will be cashed and all other
checks will be returned as soon as
the contract is awarded, unless it
is deemed advisable by the State
Highway Department to hold one
or more checks. If an unusual con
dition arises, the State Highway
Department reserves the right to
cash all checks. Bidders Bond will
not be accepted. Bond will be re
quired of the successful bidder as
• required by law.
Contracts will not be awarded to
contractors who have not been
placed on the list of qualified Con
tractors prior to the date of award.
No proposal will be issued to any
bidder later than 9 AM Eastern
Standard Time of the date of open
ing bids.
All bids must show totals for
each item and total amount of bid.
Right is reserved in the undersign
ed to delay the award of the con
tract for a period not to exceed
thirty (30) days from the date of
opening bids, during which period
bids shall remain open and not sub
ject to withdrawal. Right is also
reserved in the undersigned to re
ject any and all bids and to waive
all formalities.
Upon compliance with the re
quirements of the Standard Speci
fications, Ninety (90) percent of
the amount of work done in any
calendar month will be paid for by
the 25th. day of the succeeding
month, provided that payrolls have
been submitted as required and the
remainder within thirty (30) days
after the Final Statement is ap
proved by the Engineer.
