by the State Highway Department
of Georgia at the General Office at
No. 2 Capitol Square, Atlanta, Ga„
until 11 A. M„ Eastern Standard
time, August 19, 1955, and publicly
opened for furnishing all labor,
material, equipment and other
things necessary for the construct
ion of 3.409 miles of grading and
paving located in Forsyth County
on what is locally known as the
Matt-Silver City Road, FAS Route
1678. Beginning at FAS Route 862
at Matt and extending northeast
to the intersection of State Route
9 at Silver City, otherwise known
as Federal Aid Secondary Project
S 1678 (1) in Forsyth County. The
work will be let in one contract.

Said work shall begin within ten
(10) days after formal execution
of contract and shall be completed
within 160 working days. When
contract has been executed, written
notice shall be given the Contract
or, at which time, and not before,
work may be started.
Contract executed pursuant to
this Notice is binding on the State
Highway Department, as such.
Said contract will not create liabi
lity, expressed or implied, against
the undersigned Chairman of the
State Highway Board, as an indi
vidual nor against any employee
of the State Highway Department,
in his or her individual capacity.
The minimum wage to be paid
under this contract shall be the
amounts set out in the Labor Pro
visions included in the Proposal.
The attention of bidders is directed
to the Special Provisions covering
employment of labor, methods of
construction, subletting or assign
ing the contract and to the use of
domestic materials.
Plans and specifications are on
file at the office of the undersign
ed at Atlanta, and at Gainesville,
Georgia, and at the office of the
Board of County Commissioners of
Forsyth County at Cumming, Geor
gia, where they may be inspected
free of charge. Copies of the plans
may be obtained upon payment in
advance of the sum of $13.00, Cop
ies of the General Specifications
may be obtained upon payment in
advance of the sum of $3.00, which
sums will not be refunded.
Proposals must be submitted on
regular forms, which will be sup
plied by the undersigned, and may
be obtained by a payment, in ad
vance of $5.00 for each proposal
issued. When the proposal is sub
mitted, it must be accompanied by
a certified check, cashier's checks,
negotiable United States Bonds, or
other acceptable security in the
amount of $1500.00, and must be
plainly marked “Proposal for Road
Construction,” County and Number,
and show the time of opening as
advertised. Check of the low bidder
will be cashed and all other checks
will be returned as soon as the
contract is awarded, unless it is
deemed advisable by the State High
way Department to hold one or
more checks. If an unusual con
dition arises, the State Highway
Department reserves the right to
cash all checks. Bidders Bond will
not be accepted. Bond will be re
quired of the successful bidder as
required by law.
Contracts will not be awarded to
contractors who have not been
placed on the list of qualified Con
tractors prior to the date of award.
No proposal will be issued to any
bidder later than 9 AM Eastern
Standard Time of the date of open
ing bids.
All bids must show totals for
each item and total amount of bid.
Right is reserved in the under
signed to delay the award of the
contract for a period not to exceed
thirty (30) days from the date of
opening bids, during which period
bids shall remain open and not
subject to withdrawal. Right is al
