OFFICIAL OEGAN OF FORSYTH COUNTY A CITY OF GUMMING
DEVOTED TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF FORSYTH, FULTON. CHICRO KKE, DAWSON, LUMPKIN, HAIA AND GWINNETT COUNTIES.
(City Population 2,500)
To The People of
Forsyth County j
I hereby announce my candidacy
for the Office of Commissioner of
Roads and Revenues of Forsyth
County, subject to the Primary
Election to be held on Wednesday i
March 2, 1956.
In announcing for this important
Office, I fully realize that ft is an
Important One and deserves con
sideration from many angles, this
I have done and I feel that if
elected, I can say that the money
the County has to spend on Pub
lic improvements will be spent
wisely and where it will be of the
most benefit to the most people.
My platform will be for a Hon
est and Efficient administration, re
gardless of who my fellow Com
missioners may be. I will work
with the Commissioners elected
and do all in my power to get our
share of the Highway Funds that
our State Department allots to the
counties.
Remember that I am entering
this race on my own accord and
that I am not aligned with no
other candidate, or any group or
individual.

Public Health Dept.
This is the second in a series of
articles in which we are striving,
to help the community gain a bet
ter understanding of the Health
Department. Last week we men
tioned disease prevention and con
trol. This week we will attemp to
tell you about Maternal and Child
Health services.
How does this service affect you
and the community? First the in
dividual. In Maternal health we
are concerned with a great deal of
individual education. Teaching the
expectant mother how to care for
herself in order to produce a
healthy child. And to be well and
strong enough to care for herself
and her child when it is bom.
There are so many things we
are trying to aid you in. Your diet,
personal hygiene, proper exercise,
things that you should consult your
physician about.' The proper time
in your pregnancy to begin visits
to your doctor to insure a healthy
mother and child. Why an early
blood test may assure you that
your child will be well. There are
a number of things a blood test
will reveal.
More well and healthy babies and
mothers will raise our standard of
living in the community. We are
going to hear more and more of
MCH Clinics. We hope at some
future date to have one in For
syth County. The larger and better
organized counties now have MCH
Clinics. They provide medical care
for indigent families who feel they
must wait until time of delivery to
consult their doctor.
We cannot stress enough the
fact that your health department
offers much of the information
mentioned aove before these clinics
are organized. We would also like
to point out that you as individuals
as well as community groups can
be instrumental in the organizat
i ion of a Maternal & Child Health
I Clinic in our county. We invite you
to come in and talk with us at
' your convenience.
Your Public Health Nurse,
GRACE E. PALMOUR

ASC NEWS
If you did not make a request
fc.r cost-sharing under the 1956
ACP Program during the initial
sign-up period, the Forsyth County
ASC Committee is continuing to
take request. These requests will
be considered as “Lates” and will
be reviewed for approval as funds
become available.
To be eligible for a new growers
cotton allotment for 1956 the appli
cation must be filed at the Forsyth
County ASC Committee Office on
or before February 29, 1956. If
you plan to plant cotton, and you
depend entirely on your farm for
a living, and do not own or oper
ate another farm which has a cot
ton allotment for 1956 you may
come by the county office and file
an application for a new growers
cotton allotment.
The deadline for making an ap
plication for premeasurement of
1956 cotton acreage is Feruary 29,
1956. A letter has been sent to all
cotton farmers explaining this.
This is a good way to know just
what acreage you are planting, so
you will not be overplanted and
too you will know you are plant
ing all of your allotment, thus loos
ing no history on cotton.

I am a native borned citizen of
Forsyth County, borned and raised
near Coal Mountain. I feel that I
can be of great help to the people
of Forsyth County by being Chair
man of the Board of Roads and
Revenues, a great number of peo
ple from all over the County have
insisted that I run for this office,
as I did before while serving as a

lutely use no partiality to anyone.
I will cooperate with the State as

thing that isn’t worth the money:
After serving four years with
the U. S. Army, I will let you read
just what my Honorable discharge

influence, promising you that if
elected I will always be happy to
serve you.

SUGGESTION FOR REDUCERS
Trying to reduce? If so, you
should take into account the high
quality protein and fat of whole
milk. Try restricting yourself to
skimmilk or buttermilk for pro
-5 tein and calcium needs.
To The People Of
Forsyth County
I hereby announce as a Candi
date for the Office of Sheriff of
Forsyth County, subject to the
primary to be held on March 21,
1956.
Before making this important
decision, I carefully considered the
responsibilities that will be placed
on me if elected to this important
office. I am deeply concerned with
the number of deaths that we are
having on our highways in For
syth County each year. The larg
est percent of these are caused by.
reckless driving—driving under the
Influence of alcohol, speeding and
“clowning”. I firmly believe that
if our highways and roads in this
county were patrolled more than
they are that this high rate of
deaths would be greatly reduced.
I PROMISE TO THE MOTHERS
AND FATHERS OF THIS COUN
TY THAT IF ELECTED TO THE
OFFICE OF SHERIFF THAT X
WILL PATROL OUR ROADH
MORE, AND THAT I WILL
TREAT YOUR BOYS AND GIRL#
AS I WOULD TREAT MY OWN.
AND THAT" IF I RECEIVE A
CALL FROM ANY ONE IN* IK
COUNTY THAT I WILL ATTEND
TO THAT CALL I have been aek
ed by people from all over the
County if I would come when they
called for me; I REPEAT THAT I
WILL COME WHEN CALLED and
will dlschargge the duties of this
office.
I have lived In Forsyth County
for 26 years and I live In Barkers
District near Matt. I received my
education in the schools of Forsyth
County. I am 47 years of age,
married and having four children*
one girl and three boys and all
three boys are Veterans.
If you good people see fit to
elect me to this office ,you can be
assured that I will discharge these
duties and that my dealings •with?
all will be HONEST. Each person
will receive the same courteous
and fair treatment on any matters
pertaining to the office of Sheriff.
Sincerely yours,
