Dear Editor:
I am writing this letter in reference to Bill
H. Barnett, your State Representative and who is a
member of the Georgia House of Representatives' Motor
Vehicles Committee, of which I am the Chairman.
1 would like to express that Bill has been a
hard-working committee member and has been an effective
member of my committee. He has worked hard representing
hiu District as well as the State.
During the 1985 Session, Bill worked diligently
to pass an amendment to H.B. 45 which eliminated the
ability of unscrupulous people to buy automobile titles
to totally wrecked cars for the purpose of transferring
the I.D. plates and titles to stolen cars, thereby
avoiding the automobile title laws. This loophole
in the law had caused great problems for many in your
area.
Bill also authored legislation, which pasced
during the 1986 Session, to eliminate the sales tax
from fuel used to heat poultry houses which, by the
way, was one of the few bills of this type passed
out of the Ways and Means Committee, of which he is
a member.
For many years, I represented Forsyth County
as a member of the Hall-Forsyth County delegation
and enjoyed representing Forsyth County very much.
However, since reapportionment, Bill Barnett has served
your county, and I think has served it well and has
established himself well as a member of the Georgia
House of Representatives.
Sincerely,
J--y
4erry Jackson
