Recycling centers in the works?

Full service recycling centers, pos
sibly curb-side recycling, and a blitz of
solid waste education is in the minds
of the members of the Forsyth County
Solid Waste Management Advisory
Committee.
The committee met to give the pub
lic an update on its study and get input
from citizens last week.
Residents were full of compliments
for how much the committee has ac
complished in such a short time. The
30-member committee is made up of
residents, employees from the Public
Works and Planning and Zoning de
partments, and county commission
chairman Barry Hillgartner.
Subcommittee heads gave reports
on the findings in collections, waste
reduction, waste disposal, land limi
tations, public education, and
financing.
The committee will turn its report
over to county commissioners for ap
proval in December. The report, if ap
proved, will be u§ed as the basis for a

Water money
The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners accepted a $200,000 grant from the Apalachian Regional Commission to
help build its north water tank to help provide more water to county water customers. Front, County Adminstrator

Cumming man eyes senate seat
Cumming resident and business
man Clint Day announced that he is
exploring a possible campaign for the
newly-formed State Senate District
10.
The tenth Senate District, which
has no incumbent, contains the towns
of Cumming, Buford, Lawrenceville,
Snellville, Dacula, and Loganville.
There are about 115,000 residents in
the district.
“Families in Gwinnett and Forsyth
Counties are demanding that the state
of Georgia be run more like a busin

It computes
Chestatee Elementary opened its new computer lab last Monday with a ribbon
cutting ceremony. The $35,000 worth of equipment including 15 Macintosh
computers and four printers, were donated by the school's partner in busi

State Senate, I will be talking with

men, and community leaders. If I find
that the people of our community are
supportive, then I may very well run
for the State Senate in 1992."
Day is the owner of multiple restau
rants, including one Del Taco restau
rant in Duluth and one in Buford, and
Day Properties invests in subdivi
sions in Forsyth County. His offices
are located in the Day Building in
Peachtree Corners.
Clint Day is the son of Cecil Day and
Deen Day-Smith founders and former
owners of the Days Inn national hotel
chain. He was born and raised in the
north-Atlanta area. He has been a
supporter of Habitat for Humanity for

manyyears, and he is workingto raise
funds for “No Longer Bound" a devel
oping drug and alcohol rehabilitation
program in Forsyth County. Clint also
serves as District Governor for Sigma
Phi Epsilon Fraternity’ and is the
Vice-Chairman of the Forsyth County-
Republican Party.
Clint has been a resident of the
Lake Lanier area for nine years. He
and his wife, Lori, have been married
for sixyears. The Days live in the Lake
Lanier area in Cumming with their
two children. Paige, age three, and
Anna, age one. A third child is due in
December. The Days attend North La
nier Baptist Church where Clint
teaches Sunday School and is a
Deacon.
