Lanier Tech registration breaks
records
A record 707 individuals have registered
for Fall Quarter Diploma Credit Programs at
Lanier Tech. This number reflects a 40 per
cent increase over Fall 1990.
According to Mike Marlowe, Director of
Admissions at the school, “For the most part
this increase can be attributed to two factors.
First of all, we have expanded opportunities
for students to receive diploma credit while
attending evening classes.
Last year credit was available in only five
programs, this year students can receive di
ploma credit in 11 of the 21 programs avail
able at Lanier Tech.
Another factor contributing to record en
rollment is the economic downturn. More
people than ever before have told me that
they decided to enroll in technical training
because they had been laid off or their com
pany closed altogether.”
4-H to begin another Horse Club
year
Over the summer the Forsyth County 4-H
Horse Club has been busily practicing and
competing at statewide judging events.
These members who traveled to the State 4-H
Horse Judging Contest in July were Ashley
Salloum, Samantha Swain, Eric Gray and
Bradley Burgess. This being a first effort, the
team placed in the middle of competing
teams. Bradley and Eric then went on to com
pete at the National Championships for Ten
nessee Walking Horses and did quite well.
This is only one of the may activities the
Horse Club did last year. To start another
great year, club members will be meeting
Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. at the Cumming Gold Kist
Store. They invite any horseowner between
the ages of 9 and 19 to join them. At this
meeting plans will be finalized for their Fall

FORSYTH COUNTY NEWS-SUNDAY, OCTOBER 27, 1991
The years from ages 5-17 are exciting ones
for today's girls. Girl Scout leaders play an
important part in making a difference in the
lives of girls. Applying one's own knowledge,
enthusiasm, patience, and understanding to
one’s role as a leader will result in an enrich

The Lake Lanier Regional Library System is conducting
a day of training for all staff members, which will result in
better service for library users. The Lake Lanier system
provides public library service to Dawson, Forsyth and
Gwinnett Counties.
The ten public libraries in the three county area will be
closed on Wednesday, Oct. 30 to allow all library employees
to meet at the Lawrenceville Public Library for a day of
training and discussion.
“This is the first time we’ve closed all the libraries for
staff training since 1982.1 regret any inconvenience to our
patrons. It is difficult to get all our employees together
because of the varied hours we work, but I think it is well
worth it because the training will make our staff more
effective as they work with the public in the future," said Jo
Ann Pinder, library director.
A book drop is available at each public library for the
return of books and other materials while the libraries are
closed.

EAT WHATEVER YOU WANT
THROUGH THE HOLIDAYS AND
STILL LOSE WEIGHT!
The Metabalance System is a natural
weight control program. Its appetite
control formula comes in a conven
ient capsule form. So no matter how
active or unpredictable your lifestyle,
you'll lose pounds and inches easily.
The Chinese herbs contained in The
Metabalance System were used by
the ancient Chinese to cleanse and
detoxify the body. An optimally func
tioning system helps you process the
vitamins and nutrients from the food
you eat to their fullest capacity. This
prevents your body from storing ex
cess calories in the form of fat.
Plus, The Metabalance System helps
curb your appetite. So you won't be
tempted to over eat. Yet you won't
go hungry or feel fatigued. Quite the
contrary, in fact. The Metabalance
System not only helps you lose
pounds and incnes, it leaves you
reeling energetic and renewed.
