group

group for depressed individu
als.
The group meets the fourth
Thursday of each month at
Northside Hospital-Cherokee
in Canton at 7 p.m. Other free
support groups are also avail
able.
Trained facilitators lead all
support groups. AFSI is a
501(c)3 nonprofit agency pro
viding community mental
health services.

Medical Center

pool exercise classes for suf
ferers of arthritis or fibromyal
gia.
The classes will be at
Northeast Georgia Medical
Center’s new industrial reha
bilitation facility, the
Rehabilitation Institute at
Sherwood Plaza.
Classes will be in a heated
pool led by a certified fitness
instructor.
Both classes require regis
tration, which includes a fee
covering a one-month series
of sessions.
Class size is limited and
participants will be taken on a
first-come basis. Physician
permission is needed only if
you have a history of heart
problems.

AIDS Survival Project
... is seeking a volunteer
facilitator for the Positively
Living Support Group on
Monday nights from 7:30-
9:30 p.m.
This drop-in group is open
to all HIV positive persons
and provides a safe and confi
dential environment to support
persons both newly diagnosed
and with a long-term diagno
sis. ‘
The ideal facilitator will
have an advanced degree in
counseling, social work, psy
chology or other social service
area.
The volunteer facilitator
must also have experience
facilitating support groups,
preferably dealing with
HIV/AIDS issues, and be able
to commit to attending regu
larly on Monday nights.
