•Suicide threat turns car
chase: A Forsyth County sher
iff’s deputy responded to a
reported suicide threat on
Emerald Drive in Emerald
Springs subdivision at 9 a.m.
Monday. Suzanne Coryer was
on the phone with her son,
William R. Coryer, 33, who
was reportedly threatening to
kill himself by drinking beer
and taking pills. Before he
hung up, Coryer told his
mother that he was parked in a
wooded area near Pilgrim Mill
Road and Ga. 400, according
to the incident report.
The deputy immediately
found Coryer in his white
Ford Explorer parked at the
dead end of Pilgrim Road on
the east side of Antioch Road.
Additional officers arrived and
approached the vehicle.
Coryer started to drive away.
Coryer's Explorer disappeared
down a dirt road in the woods
and resurfaced on Pilgrim
Road headed west at a high
rate of speed. He ran the stop
sign at the corner of Pilgrim
and Antioch roads, the deputy
reported.
The officers chased Cory er
on Pilgrim Road and blocked
him in on Emerald Drive in a
cul-de-sac. Coryer put his
vehicle in reverse and rammed
the front end of a patrol car.
Meth lab
busted in
Dawson
County
By Susan Konrad
FCN Regional Staff
DAWSONVILLE An
ongoing investigation led to
the arrest of a Daw son County
man on April 1 for trafficking
methamphetamine. Authorities
from Dawson County and the
Georgia Bureau of Investiga
tion's lab team executed a
search warrant on Charles
Edward Thomas Jr.'s residence.
The Lab Team determined the
danger level of the chemicals
and worked with local authori
ties to clean up the lab.
“He was actually cooking
the meth in a separate out
building, but we found the
ingredients inside his trailer,”
said Sam Duff, captain of
investigations for the Dawson
County Sheriff's Office. “He
was able to cook approximately
1 ounce every five hours, which
equals about 51,400 on the
streets. His biggest problem was
getting the ingredients. There are
limits on how much of certain
items you can purchase and he
was having to go to Cartersville
to get some of the items.”
Investigator Tim Reed
worked with Forsyth County
sheriff’s deputies, who assisted
in surveillance, and the GBI,
whose hazardous materials
team assisted in clearing the
scene of dangerous chemicals.
In an unrelated case, a traf
fic stop by Deputy Matt
Reeves on Industrial Park
Drive yielded methampheta
mine, marijuana and a sub
stance believed to be cocaine.
Malcolm Todd Freeman, 38
and Shawn Scott Freeman, 38,
both of Atlanta were arrested
and charged with possession of
drug related objects, posses
sion of methamphetamine with
intent to distribute and posses
sion of marijuana.
On Monday afternoon,
DCSO Investigators arrested
Michael Hudsell and Melissa
Stiles and charged them with
theft by taking. The two sus
pects allegedly took concrete
forms from the Oak Creek sub
division construction site with
the intention of selling them
for scrap metal. The forms,
valued at approximately
SB,OOO were recovered at
Blaze Recycling in Norcross.
A search of the suspects’ home
on Belvedere Road in Hall
County also yielded a Jeep
Cherokee that had been report
ed stolen from Forsyth County.

The deputies jumped out of
their vehicles and drew their
pistols. Coryer would not exit
the vehicle as commanded. He
rolled down the driver’s side
window and told the officers,
"Shoot,” according to a
deputy’s report.
Finally at 9:41 a.m., the
deputies wrestled Coryer out
of the vehicle and arrested
him. Coryer was transported
to Northside Forsyth Hospital
