The 2004 Forsyth County Youth Leadership Graduation set for April 20
Forty selected high school
students from all three of
Forsyth County High Schools
and Horizon Christian
Academy will attend a special
graduation on Tuesday, April
20, at 6 p.m. at Polo Fields
Country Club. The 2004
Youth Leadership Class
Graduation will recognize
these outstanding students for
their citizenship practices,
involvement in the community
activities and their leadership
skills.
The purpose of the Youth
Leadership Program is
designed for high school stu
dents who are interested in
developing leadership skills.

Commencement

38th Commencement will be
held on Thursday. May 6 at 7
p.m. at the Georgia
Mountains Center in
Gainesville. Georgia.
There will be approxi
mately 490 graduates, which
is the largest graduating class
in the history of Gainesville
College. The commence
ment speaker is scheduled to
be Justin D. Freeman of
Lawrenceville who is the cur
rent GC Student Government
Association President. A
reception for graduates and
their families will begin at

North Georgia College
Awards
... Gov. Sonny Perdue will
speak at North Georgia
College & State University
Millitary Awards Review on
April 18 at 2 p.m. The event
will take place on the drill
field at the center of the North
Georgia campus and is open
to the public.
Several other special
events are planned for
Parents-Alumni Weekend,
taking place April 16-18.
Retired Army Col. John
Hutcheson. NG ‘69. will
speak at the 21st anniversary
of the NGCSU Memorial
dedication at 4 p.m. on April
17, also open to the public.
Also scheduled is the 26th
Annual Parents-Alumni golf
tournament, the
Distinguished Professor and
Outstanding Student presen
tations and the Alumni
Awards Banquet.
The School of Education
will also be celebrating its
50th anniversary at 6:30 p.m.

sions. The curriculum is
designed to provide experi
mental and classroom learning
through skills and an
increased awareness of the
community including social
and public issues. Special
guest speaker, Brooke
Langston, assistant district
attorney of Gwinnett County,
will address the graduates.
The program is sponsored
by The Cumming-Forsyth
County Chamber of
Commerce, Northside
Hospital-Forsyth, The Forsyth
was selected for a term of
four months as first sergeant
in the Cadet Chain of
Command at the U.S.
Military Academy.
As senior noncommis
sioned officer, the First
Sergeant is responsible to the
company commander, exe
cutes policies and standards
pertaining to the perform
ance. training, appearance
and conduct of the company.
Berg graduated from
home schooling and
Chalcedon Christian School
in 2001.
He is concentrating his
studies in leadership and
plans to graduate in 2005
from West Point and be com
missioned a second lieu
tenant in the U.S. Army.
The mission of the U.S.
Military Academy is to edu
cate. train and inspire the
Corps of Cadets so that each
graduate is a commissioned
leader of character commit
ted to the values of duty,
honor, country; professional
growth throughout a career
as an officer in the U.S.
Army; and a lifetime of self-
