A local farmer has begun
an egg-citing new venture to
bring smiles to peoples’ faces.
Shelby Morrow, owner of
Rent-A-Hatchery, started her
program in April to “accom
modate everybody” and offer
families, schools and day
cares an opportunity that is
“inexpensive for the amount
of educational value they’ll
receive.”
The educational value
being “the life cycle of a
chick,” according to Morrow.
“It’s a lot of fun to me, it’s
exciting to children and that
makes me extremely happy,”
Morrow said.
Morrow provides class
rooms, families and other
facilities with everything
needed to hatch baby chicks:
an incubator, feed, survival
guides and, most importantly,
farm-fresh eggs.
“All you have to supply is a
littie bit of water for the incu
bator and for when the chicks
hatch,” she said.
Each egg “comes straight
from our hens on the farm,”
Morrow said. It takes about
three weeks, or 21 days, to
hatch.
Through her business,
Morrow has traveled to differ
ent schools across Forsyth
County to set up incubators,
chat with students and receive
photos of baby chicks.

Kemp renews
suspension
of state sales
tax on gas
By Dave Williams
Capitol Beat News Service
ATLANTA - Gov. Brian Kemp issued an exec
utive order Thursday extending the temporary
suspension of the state sales tax on gasoline
and other motor fuels that has been in effect since
March.
The latest extension runs through Oct. 12.
In extending the suspension, Kemp cited the
highest inflation in 40 years, gasoline prices
that have fallen from June’s record but remain
high, and ongoing supply chain challenges.
“We are using the means available to us to pro
vide much-needed relief to Georgians,”
the governor said.
A second executive order Kemp signed
Thursday renewed his emergency declaration
related to supply chain disruptions.
The General Assembly approved the first tem
porary suspension of the motor fuels sales tax in
March. Kemp has extended the suspension sever
al times through executive orders since this year’s
legislative session ended in April.
Since that first suspension of the tax, the aver
age price of gasoline in Georgia has remained
among the lowest in the nation and is currently
46 cents per gallon below the national average,
according to AAA.
