such part of the militia of this (late,
as (hall be neceiTary to repel any
invasion, infurredtion, or rebellion
that may happen within the fame.
* Provided always , That the powers
hereby veiled (hall not be conflrued
to extend to march at any one time
from without the limits of this (late,
or beyond the temporary line be
tween the white people and the In
dians redding within the fame, more
than one half of the Militia.
And be it enacted by the authority
qforefaid, That whenever the militia
br any part thereof (hall be called
forth as afcrefaid for the protedlion
of this (late, the]following Rules and
Articles be eflablilhed for the better
regulation and government thereof,
(that is to fay)
Art • ifi. Any militia officer or
soldier who (hall begin, excite, cause
or join in any mutiny or fedition'in
the regiment or company to which he
belongs,or in any other regiment or
company, party, poll, detachment
or guard, on any pretence whatfo
cver, (hall fuffer such puniffiment
as by a general court-martial (hail
be ordered.
Art. id. Any officer, non-com
missioned officer, or private militia
man, who being present at any sedi
tion or mutiny does not use his ut
most endeavours to suppress the fame
or coming to the knowledge of any
mutiny or intended mutiny, does
not without delay give information
thereof to the commanding officer, -
(hall be puniffied at the diferetion of
a general court-martial according to
the nature of his offence.
Art . 3 d+ Any officer or private
militia man who (hall strike his fu
pcrioi^officer or draw or offer to draw
or (hall lift up any weapon or offer
any violence againff him, being on
the execution of his office, or (ball
disobey any lawful commands of his
superior officer, (hall fuffer for such
puniffiment according to the nature
of the offence, as (hall be ordered by
the sentence of a general court-mar
tial.

Last Wednefciay morning died, in the prime of
life, after a painful illness which she bore with
the ntmoft patience and refignatipn, Mrs. Elina
fa’b Cole , wife of Mr. Thomas Cole, of this
place. Sweetness of difyofition, unaffefted piety,
and amiable manners endeared her to all who knew
her ; who now lament that fated stroke , which the
met undismayed, and trusting in far Cod.

“ Thus, all the splendid glories of the Enft 1
“ Seek then, O feck, th’Almighty Sovereign’s
« Aid,
“ Sure by bit grace to be forever bUft.”
A friend of the deccafed adds—She was firiftiy
confident in her worldly concerns j but more par
ticularly interefed in hr conduct towards her God:
and as no reward was fufficient in this life for her
indefatigable pursuits in worthipping him, he
thought proper to call her hence to an abode in
Heaven. And as we limpathize with the kteneji
JenJibility for her loss here, we cannot but rejoice
that (he now rests in peace; where the supreme
Governor of the World, the great Judge of Man
hind, who fees every degree of perfection in others,
aud poffefles all possible perfection in himfelf, ihall
proclaim her worth before men and angels, and
pronounce to her in the presence of the whole crea
tion, that belt and mod Significant of applauses:
« Well done thou good and faithful servant; thou

ration the recommendation of Congrefe,
relative to the Federal Constitution, and thereupon
came to the following resolutions t
Whereas the United States in Congress af*
fembled, on Friday, the tßth day of September,
1787, having received the Report of the Con
vention lately assembled at Philadelphia, did
“ Re/olve unanmouJly t That the said report, with
, “ the resolutions and letters accompanying the
“ fame, be tranfmitred to the several Legislatures,
“ in order to be submitted to a Convention of De
* legates chosen in each state by the people there-*
“ of, in conformity to the Resolves of the Con
** vent ion made and provided in that case :**
Therefore
Refolvedy That a Convention be defied on the
day of the next General Election, and in the fame
manner as representatives are defied; and that
the said Convention consist of not more than three
members from each county.
Resolved, That the said Convention shall meet
at Augufla on the fourth Tuefday in December
next; and as soon thereafter as may be conveni
ent, proceed to confider the said report, letter
and resolutions, and to rejefl or adopt any part
or the whole thereof.
Refolvedy That any Member of the Executive
Council, or of the Legiftature, or other perfott
holding any office of honor or profit under this
state, may be elefled a Member of the said Con
vention.
Refolvedy That any three of the said Members
may adjourn from day to day, and a majority to
proceed to business. %.
