A Proclamation.
WHEREA s thc Superintendent
missioners Appointed to treat with the
Southern Tribes of Indians have received offi«
cial accounts front'the Creek Indians, mam
felling a desire and wiliingnefa *o come to a
treat* to be htriden in September next, and in
confluence thereof have ordered all hoflili
ties to cease on their part against the State oI
Georgia aforefaid. 1 HAVE THERE
FORE thought ft, by *nd with the advice
and consent of the honorable the Executive
Council, to issue this mry Proclamation, com
manding that all hostilities on the part of the
said fta;e do cease against the said Indiana,
hereby forbidding all perfonX of the said state
to idterhipt or oihetwifi injure the said In
dians, on thiir Way to»; attending on, and
returning from the said Treaty.— AND I
DO HEREBY Order ahd command all Offi
cera Civil and Military to apprehend and se
cure any person Os persons who fhaU be fdnnil

vention of the State of New-Yofk made a
house, at Poughkeepsie, when his Excellency
Governor Clinton was chosen President.
From ihe Virginia Gazette of the i6tb of June*
•« Yesterday about three o'clock, ini Com
mittee of the whole House of the Honorable
Convention of this State, came on the que-»
flion, Whether amendments previous to the
ratification of the proposed plan if government
(hould take place, whin thi Committee di
vided,' and the motion was loft by a majority

was put, Will this Convention ratify ftie new
plan of government ? when it‘ was carried by
a majority of tin. .. .For the ratification 89,
I against it 791. After which a Committee wa*
appointed to draw up amendments, to be
taken into consideration to-day, which are tn

day the 15 th ult. which was intended as the
daft for celebrating the sacred rite, (as men
tiodbd in our paper of that week) ; he doubt
left now enjoys that heightened plcafure which
success creates after difappoifltment.
