Virtue's dear darling, and religion’a care—

I ffce you drop the feeling hnfbandV tear#
Nor while I write can I from' tears refrain,
For well I knew the dear engaging maid.i
I feel your feelings, and partake your pain,
Yet know not how your fuffefiog foul to aid.
Yet, tho* I may not Tooth your troubled foul,
Or make the tears oF angui/h ceale to flow,
The unhappy tumult of your bread controul,
Or lessen ought your poignant heartfelt woe.
Our dear Eliza mud not die unsung r
I’ll form the elegiac song to her—
Then drop the quill, and be the- lyrp unstrung,
This duty does your weeping bard confer.
