success in their undertaking.

The Married Ladies Independent

sea on last Wednesday evening and

The Workingmen’s excursion to

was a grand affair, everybody seem

The colored people of Atlanta
have succeeded in having colored
teachers appointed in their public
schools. The white teachers of one
of the schools had been in the
habit of Sending out for beer, etc.,
during schooi hours.
One of the best excursions o' the
season will be that given by the Loue
Circle Association, for Augusta,

(juite a success considering the inclem

for this there is uo doubt but that the
Theater wou d have been tilled to its
utmost capacity. All of the perfum
ers did well —which showed much
study on their part and careful train
ing by their preceptor Miss s Florida

THE EXPOSITION.
The following taken from the
Atlanta Defiance of last week wiß
be read with interest by everybody:
The Hon. Phillip Joseph, Director Gen
eral of the Colored Nation <1 industrial
Exposition who has been in this city for
two weeks negotiating with the business
men for terms, relative to the location of
he Exposition, has succeeded in obtaining
from the Driving Park Association the use
free of rent of their niagnificient grounds,
200 acres inclosed, wuh appropriate build
ings covering 400 000 square feet of space,
that will have cost the Association, when
complete, over $l5O 000. This is a most
liberal donation by citizens of Atlanta, and
exceeded the expectations of the most sang
uine friends of the Exposition, Director
General Joseph anthoriz s us to state that
Atlanta has by the liberality of her busi
ness men secured the location of the
Exposition and that his headquarters are
now established in this city,
A rousing mass meeting was held at the
courthouse Friday night, at which resoltt
dons were passed pledging cooperation &c.
Addresses were delivered by Mr. Joseph
and others.
