Obituary.
Mrs. Charlotte Carley, who departed
this life on August 1, in her eighty
second (82) year, the wife of Alexand
er. Carlev, deceased, was an old and re
spected citizen kind and devoted to her
duties and beloved by all who knew her.
She was ever ready to lend a helping
hand to’the needy and afflicted. Peace

delegation is in attendance although a

which damaged the railroads to such an
■extent as to make direct railroad com
munication impossible from Atlanta,
Macon and Augusta. At. the reception

presence. At 2 o’clock the brethren
took the delegates ou au excursion
down the river on the steamer “David
Clark" giving them an opportunity of
viewing the points of interest around
the harbor. The trip was very delight
ful and greatly enjoyed by the excur
sionists.
On Wednesday evening a grand re
ception in honor the District Lodge was
given by Armour Lodge and‘Household
of Ruth No. 438 at their hall on Har
ris street. The reception was held in
the Lodge room and interesting ad
dresses were delivered, by Messrs. F.
W- McCarthy, C. H. McCarthy. J. F.
Valentine, Rev. Adams, and others, a
very elega it bible was presented by Mr
Mulligan of Armour Lbdge to the
Household of Ruth, District Master
Matthews making the presentation
which was accepted by N. G.. J. F.
Jones, in behalf of the Household. At
II o’clock the company repaired to the
spacious hall on the second floor where
a table extending the ent.re length of
the room was laden with all the good
things of the season calculated to tempt
the appetite. After doing justice to the
feast the party spent several hours in
social chat, music &c.
the pakade.
On Thursday the Lodges formed
early in the morning at. the Temple,
T. T. Sanders, Esq , grand marshal wiih
a suitable number of aids. The pre
cession marched through the principal
streets making a splendid appearance
aud was admired by everbody. The
procession proceeded to the city and
Suburban Bailroad and took the cars
fur Montgomery where the day was
spent most agreeably. . In the night
entertainments were held at their halls
wh ch were very.liberally'patronized.
The District Lodge closed its session
on Friday evening after transacting a
large amount of. business. The session
was harmonious," and much will
result to the Order from the dy ibera
tions. Following are the names of the
officers elected for the ensuing year :
