have just been issued from the Tri
bune press.
The city scavengers are not as vigi
lant as they should be. There are
many complaints about them in the
.southern portion of the city, where in
some places they have not been for a
week.
The very excellent book “Our Fath
ers Church” by Dr. M R Wilson, just
printed in this office should be in the
hands of every I 'ver of the race. Twen
ty-five cents e mid n t be better in
vested than iu the purchase of one of
these bo ks.
A fine lit'le church has just been
erected in Screven county by Rev. C H
Newton, and will so n bo dedicated to
the service of God by Rev John Watts,
P E. This church wa< built mainly by
the efforts of the people in that county,
having received no aid from their
chur-ch Ex. B aid.
The A M E churches of this, and all
other cities, and towns, throughout the
United States will celebrate their one
hundredth anniversary this month No
veuiber 1887. She throws op-n her
record for full inspection. Centennial
Addresses, speeches, orations, essays,
sermons and hymns will fill the churches
during the month. And in the midst
<>f all of these good things there will be
a centennial collection tor the publica
tion department of the A M E church.
Friends are requested tv give something
let it be much or little, which will be
thankfully received.
The Celebrated “Black Diamond
Quartette” of Kirtrel’s Industrial and
Normal school of N. C’, of which Prof.
B. B. Goings is manager, have been
giving the public of this city a treat to
some tine singing. Their recent concerts
in St Junes Tabernacle and St Philips
church were perfectly satisfactory tn the
’urge audiences that had the pleasure of
hearing them. The proceeds of these
concerts are devoted to the re building
ot the school which was destroyed by
fire. The quartette consists of Profes
sor’* A. Simmon. H.Tate. A. Haywood
and W. Warren.

public in general that Dr. M R. Wilson
{iastor of St. James Tabernacle has prepared
iis Centennial Address, and had it printed
by request. I must say, it is a shell full of
good things and facta. If you want to know
root and branch of the A. M. E. church and
the fruits thereof, get a copv of Dr. Wilson’s
•‘Our Father Church.” I must say that the
Tribune and her staff deserve great credit
for the most excellent work and tine finish
of work done both on thia pamphlet and on
the Savannah District Minutes of the A M E
Church* And what pleases me, the work is
done ty the Sons of Ham< Tribune your
work will pass you into any home, and
■kind of thought. Long may you oonlintie.
