the Tybee rai road by the caving in of a
bank of sand where he was digging.

to six months on the chain gang for
straling two peaches valued at 5 cents.

blind sued William Smith for 8500
de.muge for abducting his wife. Jack

An excursion will be given by the

as this will be a fine opportunity for
fami’ies to spend a splendid day. Music

James Bryant was taken to the Geor
gia Infirmary on Wednesday last in a
dying condition, and died about three
o’clock the same day. From letters
found on the person of the deceased, it
was seen that he bad a wife living tn
Charleston, and also the sum of 825 was
found on him, His wife was informed
by telegraph of the death of her hus
band. The remains were enterred be
fore she arrived. His property ■ was
turned to his w.fe.

The Democratic candidates for Sena
tor and for members of the Legislature are
doing some active canvassing tor Mon
day night mass meeting. If there is
any chance for a free ballot and a fair
count, three good Republicans would
fill the bill.

Tabernacle, Rev. R. B Bailey, pastor
to-morrow at the following hours: preach
ing by the pastor at 11 a. m., 3 p. m.
and 7 p, m. Sunday School at 1 p. in.
We had a pleasant call on Wednes
day last from Rev. R. B. Bailey, who
has recently been called to the charge
of St. James Tabernacle. Mr. Bailey E
said to be an eloquent pulpit or tor and
will do good woik in this section.
The 1.0 G, T, held a convention in
this city during the week, and the ever
lasting “Nigger” question seemed to
have occupied much of their time. Even
these reformatory (?) institutions have
a blow for the race.
The three white ruffians Crosby
Scales and Scott was found guilty in
the Superior court on Monday last, and
was ordered to be sent to the penitenti
ry for 9,7 and 6 years respectively.
