Elections have completed the examina
tion of contests between Nnrman and
Mclver from Liberty, and Crawford
and Tyson from Mclntosh, and
have reported favorable to the seating
of Mclver of Liberty, and against
Crawford from Mclntosh.
The Republicans on the Ogeechee in
Chatham c unty have arranged for a
torchlight procession in 7th district On
Friday night November 30th, at 7
o’clock. All are invited to join with us

Thursday night last the restaurant of
E. M. Deunis on Canal near West
Boundary was entered by thieves and
rompletely gutted. Mr. Dennis says that
after the thieves had gathered all they
wanted they departed, leaving the back
door open. He estimates his loss about
8100, and it falls heavily upon a poor
industrious man about this time.
Henry Saffold, formerly of Company
E. 135 Regtment U. S. C. T. is apply
ing for a pension and needs identifica
tion. He is now residing at Penfield,
Ga. He knows the following men and
would like to hear from them : Joshua
Hull, Thomas Smith, Jasper Hayes,
(J-borne Boler, Sam Eungin, Raif Stra
iner, Harrison Strain.
We regret tn record the dea’h of Ab

zen of this city. Mr. Sallins has been
in bad health for years from pulmonary
consumption which terrible disease end-

was an old member of Mt. Mori-ih Lodge
• No. 16, F. A. M and also and old
member of the First African Baptist
church; he was about 60 years of ago
and leaves a wife and several children.
The sixth session of the Sunday
School Teachers Convention of the Zion
Baptist Association, was held on Wed
nesday last with the Shiloah Baptist
Church in Brunswick, Ga. Rev. J. M.
Simms was re elected president, Rev. 8.

temporary secretary, Rev. D. Waters,

A minister’s association was organiz
ejjat the study of Rev, R. Bingham
ana was constituted with prayer. Rev.
Bingham stated the object of the meet
ing; after which Rev. J, S. Habersham
was chosen chairman, and J! S. Thomas
secretary. The following resolutions
were adopted by the association. It
was
Resolved, That the pastors connected
with this association, unite tn celebrat
ing November 29th, Thanksgiving day,
as usual.
Resolved’, That the thanksgiving ser
vices be held at the First Bryan Baptist
Church, Bryan Street, at a. m, and that
Rev. R. B. Bailey be invited to preach
the the sermon, assisted by F-ev. H. H.
Taylor.
Resolved, That Rev. E. Pinckney
should read the scripture, and that Rev
W. L P Weston should have the man

Resulted, That one lady from each
church be appointed a committee and

sist the ladies in the distribution“of
whatever money may be received among

Resolved. That all our people assem
ble at the First Bryan Baptist Church,

thanksgiving acid praise to Almighty

liberally for the benefit of the Georgia
Infirmary.
