The Savannah Tigers have re¬

down without a hit.
On Suday, May 14, the two

But we know what you foik back home are interested in—
the “Flying Tigers” of Savannah State College who over night
have vaulted from' the depths of the track power into the

today, ranked well within the first ten iri the country.
This live-man team, comprised of four sophomores (Frank

Turner, C. P. Harris i, and a lone senior, Enoch Roberts, hasi
definitely stamped itself as the team to beat during the re¬
mainder of the season, and the next two to follow.
Winners of the Alabama State sprint-medley title as well
as the mile, Coach Ted A. Wright with a prayer on his lips,
and faith in his squad, entered them in the former, with the!
squad coming through 'with a third place. This took nerve
when you come to think of how he ran two 440 men (Roberts
^tnd Harris) on the 220 legs against some of the nation’s top
men at this distance, then came through to place.
All year .lod; we have said how versatile this squad is.
Frankly we don’t think there is another team in the country
with five men who can place, and place high, in the distance—
medley, mile relay, two mile relay, and sprint—medley, and
then if time permits, ,break up the squad and take the mile
run, the half-mile, and place second and third respectively
in the 880 and 440.
We do wish that each of you could have Lcen here. Thd
track was a “mess,” v,ith 32 degree weather, rain, snow, and
sleet greeting these fellows from the sunny south.
