John A. Battise Dies
In Jamaica, N. Y.
John A. Battise, a former
vannahian and widely
harber, died Monday in
ca, N. Y., and was buried

For many years prior to

Mrs. Letilia D) Hamilton
Dies In Philadelphia
Mrs. Letitia Duncan Hamilton
died August 16 in Philadelphia,
Pa. She was a native of Sa¬
vannah and was the daughter
cf the late Mr. and Mrs. David
A. Duinoan. Mrs. Hnnvlton’s
husband, Rev. R. J Hamilton,
preceded her in death nine
months ago. December 15, 1957.

Friendship Bant. Church
At First Friendship Baptist
church, Wheaton street, Rev. G.
R. Conner, Sr., minister, activi¬
ties Sunday were very inspir¬
ing beginning with the Church
School. Midday services were
conducted by Officers of the
church, Pastor Connor accom¬
panied a family to South Car¬
olina on death occasion. Com¬
munion services were excellent.
The message was delivered by
Pastor Conner on “The Strange¬
ness of Jesus Power.” The
night sermon was also delivered
by the pastor. Three members
were received in the fellowship.
A candle light service will be
sponsored Sunday night by the
mission and baptism 7 a. m.
Sunday our pastor will preach
the .anniversary sermon of the
First Heyward Baptist church.
He is now carrying on a two-
weeks revival at Abyssinian
Baptist ichurch. ^he church
