while in the nation’s capital.
Foremost among their rounds
was a visit to the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Michael Angelo
Graham. Other persons who
entertained the Savannahians
were Mr. and Mrs. Waldo
son (Mrs. Denny’s younger sis¬
ter and brother-in-law), and
Mr. and Mrs. Percy Hanshaw.
The Denny's sons, Richard,
Montague (and his wife) and
Frederick Denny added to the
gaiety. Mr. Hanshaw honored
the group with a tour of Wash¬
ington.

The wedding will take place
at 6 p.m. Saturday, December
2fi, 1959, at the First African
Baptist church.
Miss Lewis is a graduate of
Savannah State College. She is
presently teaching at the Wil¬
lard Hill school in Statesboro.
Mr. Nichols is presently at¬
tending West Virginia State
College where he is a senior.

won an annual international
contest in which 65 countries
participated. This contest was
sponsored by a magazine com¬
pany in New Dclphia, India.
Some of the NCNA Savannah
Youth Chapter members have
sent paintings to India for this
year’s contest which ended No¬
vember 3.
The National Conference of
Negro Artists, the only organi¬
zation of its kind In the world
and with members from twen¬
ty-eight states in America as
well u abroad, has a number
of objectives.
1. To help to provide oppor¬
tunities for the artist who is
denied them because of his
race.
2. Encourage Negro artists to
major in art. There is a great

vember 22, at 5 o’clock at the
First Congregational church.
The Rev. A. C. Curtright per¬
formed the double-ring cere¬
mony.
Mrs. Willa Ayers Johnson
presented the wedding music
and Mrs. Bertha Doyle sang
“O, Perfect Love."
The church was decorated
with standards of white gladi¬
oli and chrysanthemums, seven
branched candelabra and palms.
The bride wore a dress of
mauve lace and orchid pink
satin made In a princess de¬
sign. Her hat of orchid pink
satin had a short face veil and
she wore a double string of
pearls, her gift from the groom.
Her corsage was a pink orchid
Mrs. Melissa L. Miller, matron
of honor and the bride’s only
attendant, wore an orchid and
purple chiffon dress made with
a waltz length skirt. Her match¬
ing hat was of flowers with a
face veil attached. She wore a
wrist corsage of orchid chry¬
santhemums.
Matthew S Brown served as
best man. Ushers were Eugene
H. Gadsden and Eugene E.
Doyle.
For her daughter’s wedding,
Mrs. Hart chose a dress of Ber¬
muda blue lace over taffeta,
made with a jacket of the same
material. Her accessories were
black and she wore a corsage of
pink carnations.
For her mother’s wedding

North wore a dress of Peacock
blue crepe. Her accessories we?e
black apd her corsage was of
pink carnations.
Immediately following the
ceremony a reception was held
in the social hall of Butler
Presbyterian church. It was de¬
corated with palms, and stand¬
ards of white gladioli and chry¬
santhemums.
The orides table, covered
with white embroidered linen,
was centered with a thrde-
ticred wedding cake topped
with a sugar wedding bell and
lilies of the valley. Lighted
tapers were placed in the back¬
ground. Yellow and whjte
mums completed the table dec¬
oration.
Hosiesses at the refreshment
and punch table were Mrs. Eu¬
nice Washington, Mrs. Louise
Collier. Mrs. Lillian Scott and
Miss Lola Dixon.

the guests in the bride's book.

classic recordings for the re¬

The bride is a home econo¬
mics teacher at Beach Junior
High school where she will re¬
main for the rest of the school
year, after which the couple
will reside in Westbury, Long
Island, New York.
