Angeles, Calif. Mrs. Herron was

Jonquil Garden Club
The April meeting of the Jon¬
quil Garden Club was held at the
home of Mrs. Carmen Singfield,
740 East Waldburg Street.
Mrs. Mary Matthews, delegate
to the state convention of Garden
Clubs, held in Macon April 10,
gave a report of the events of the
convention. Others representing
the club at the meeting were Mrs.
Evenell Tei-rell, president; Mrs.
Margaret Priester, Mrs. Janie
Bowers, Mrs. Marie Watts, Mrs.
Esther Warrick, and two Junior
Jonquil Club members, Andrea
Anderson and Sheila Mobley.
The president announced that
the Jonquil Garden Club will be
host to the next State Convention
of Garden Clubs to be held in
April, 1961.
Members'in charge of the suc¬
cessful television program spon¬
sored by the club on March 29
were Mrs. Bowers and Mrs. Pries¬
ter. Members of the Junior Jon-
quil Garden Clubs who partici-
pated on this program were from
the following schools:
DeRenne, Sol C. Johnson, Spencer
and Paulsen Elementary.
The club is sponsoring work-

hools. After the workshops

On Tuesday evening, April 26,
members and friends of the
YWCA Center attended the annual
membership meeting held at But¬
ler Presbyterian Church. The
meetihg was a part of the ob¬
servance of “YWCA Week.”
Y-Teen Mildred Harris Was pi¬
anist and the invocation was given
by the Rev. P. A. Patterson. Fol¬
lowing greetings from Mrs. Mil¬
dred Newton, program director,
YWCA Center, the Y-Teens from
Cuyler Elementary School, ad¬
vised by Mrs. Retha Delaware,
sang “Our Song.”
The speaker, Mrs. Sujette F.
Crank, executive director Phyllis
Wheatley Branch, YWCA, Atlan¬
was introduced by Mrs. New¬

for her work, gave an enlighten¬
ing address on the overall pro¬
gram of the YWCA and revealed
the many efforts in which the
YWCA has pioneered.
