New York Graphic.]
Gen. Spinner, in the course of e recent
interview, said io answer to a question os
to whether there has not been stealing in
the treasury: “Yes. ltnoontly there has
been money stolen in the National Bank
Redemption Agency. When Graves*, who
is in charge, found out he had a thief
with him, he carefully investigated, aud
laid traps to catch him. He came to me
one day and said he bad a elne; I said,
‘Well, what is it ?’ He said that he sus-
pected one or two women. I shook my
heid and said, ‘You are wrong. A woman
won't steal.’ Now, 1 know they won't.
They have not got tho nerve. The reosou
why I prefer women as counters is be
cause they won't steal. If they do sfeal,
they won r t take over one or two dollars,
because, os I said before, they, haven't the
nerve. If a woman steals any larger
amount, yon can make np yonr mind she
hoe a ‘pal’ oatside who is a man.”
