At Home the beer war was carried into
the retail trade by one house flooding the
town with dodgers announcing a reduction

first cut by any retailer,and whether or not
it will be met by the other houses remains

handed over most of the counters, as those
nho drink it have been buying it by the
hea*. The great consumption of this has
greatly lessened the calls for whisky.
An old lady by the name of Miss Camilla
Floyd, wtio was sent from Butts county
about twelve years ago to the asylum at
Milledgeville, has been returned to Butts
county as a harmless lunatic, and is now in
jail at Jackson. She says that she has a
sister living near Indian Springs, also one
living in Vinevill Macon, and that she
would know them if she could see them.
She remembers all about Indian Springs,
and going to the asylum, and that it was
wrong to send her there. Siie seems to lie
perfectly harmless and anxious to see her
people. ‘
Thursday night as Alex Herrington, of
Sylvania, was returning to his home from
the court,, night came on before he reached
there, and as he was walking along the
road within 200 yards of his house he was
r-tartied by the whiz of something which
brushed his leg and came near upsetting
him. By the peculiar noise which follow
ed he at once recognized the fact that he
had gone uncomfortably near a huge al
ligator, which was occupying the high
way just at that time. Calling for a negro,
who was employed by him, he procured a
light and his shotgun, and dispatched the
monster which measured nine feet and
seven inches in length.
Mack Richardson, of Atlanta, deserted
Ms family twenty-six years ago and has just
nturned'to them. He was warmly wel-

Col. Ira Jennings started to Macon Hat-

thirty-five dozen eggs, When in three

The DeLand Echo says the cattlemen
are busy now rounding up. They report
the cattle in good shape and a small per
centage of loss for so cold a winter.

place, and the land on which to" build it

Colonization company.
Captain Maddux has just completed the
burning of 100.000 brick at Rice creek, near
Palatka. The general impression is that
the quality of the brick is fair. They arc
