Samuel Sinclair, a gentlemanly looking
man, claiming to be a nephew of the late
Horace Greeley, arrived at St. Augustine
on Friday night, potting up at the Baya
house, where fie stayed a day or two and
.jumped his board bill. Then, claiming to
be a schoolmate of Postmaster Dewhurst,
he forged a cheek on the National bank
for f5, signing Mr. Dew hurst’s name to it,
•and got Mr. Pacetti, a saloon keeper, to
cash it, and left for Palatka. But he re-
tured there last night and Marshal Raphins
picked him up. On his person was found
two checks filled out, one for *50 on our
national bank, drawn to the order of Sam

National bank; the other a sight draft for
*50, drawn tfie same way, and several

have a chance to explain his actions.

Soothing Syrup should always be used
when children are cutting teeth. It re
lieves the little sufferer at once; it produces
natural, quiet sleep by relieving the child
from pain, and the little cherub awakes as
“bright as a button.” It is very pleasant
to taste. It soothes the child, softens the
gums, allays all pain, relieves wind, regu
lates the bowels and is the best knowm
remedy for diarrhoea, whether arising
from teething or other causes. Twenty-

strong and well again.
Greenville, S. C., July 14,1884.
Messrs. Westmoreland Bros.—Geutle-
men: I bought a bottle of your Calisaya
Tonic some time ago for my little daughter,
seven (7) years old, who was at that time
suffering with general debility and loss of
appetite. Your Tonic was given as direct
ed, and she is now entirely well; has a
good appetite, sleeps well and has regained
her strength. Her complexion has re
sumed its usual rosy color. I don’t hesi
tate to recommend the Tonic to any one as
being, in my opinion, very superior.
Very respectfully,
M. S. Scruggs,
Book-keeper Camperdown Mills.
A gentleman in this city has used the
remedy for a fifteen months old child with
perfect success. The Tonic is just as bene
ficial to children as to grown people.

II. Want.il (ioni'roiih Measure.
A parsimonious individual went into a
drug store the other day to have a pre
scription put up. “Be sure that you give
me generous measure,” said he to the
druggist, fearful lest he might not get his
money’s worth. Said the druggist: “If I
should give you one-sixteenth of a grain
more than this prescription calls for you
would be dead in five minutes after taking
a dose.” The mean man turned pale, and
said no more about generous measure.—

Excitement in Texas.
Great excitement has been caused in the
vicinity of Paris, Texas, by the remarkable
recovery of Mr. J. E. Corley, who was so
helpless he could not turn in bed, or raise
his head; everybody said he was dying of
consumption. A trial bottle of Dr. King’s
New Discovery was sent him. Finding re
lief, he bought a large bottle and a box of
Dr. King’s New Life Pills; by the time he
had taken two boxes of Pills and two bot

gained in flesh thirty-six pounds.
